In the Another Day side-chapter, before Neku goes to Molco, if the player talks to Futoshi near the Cosmic Corner shop, he'll refuse Neku's offer to play Tin Pin at first, claiming that he has errands he needs to run, but then says "This is Japan. 'Yes' means 'No'" when Neku starts to walk off, then accepts Neku's offer.

Also, to add to the confusion, the wiki has it backwards and their explanation is complete crap.

That was what I thought when I saw the line.

There's a Japanese word 'Iya'; it means no, but obviously it sounds similar to affirmative words from many other languages (Yeah, Ja, Ya, etc.) Hence the running joke. That's my understanding of it, anyway.
