I kind of thought it was about addiction or something and was vaguely reminded of "the Shining" as well. I'll have to listen again and see what I think of it. Good song, anyway...
I've often heard it's about drug addiction but I never really thought it was just about that. It's about giving in to your wants and desires, whatever they may be, and getting stuck with them until they overpower you and you can't quit them or get away.
Lines like this:

And she said, "We are all just prisoners here of our own device"

You can check out any time you like but you can never leave
If you read the lyrics, they're pretty self-explanatory.

I went to watch Paranormal Activity 3. The scariest thing I saw was the floating sheet. I'm serious.
I was going to ask if those movies were any good because they look really dumb. Like that over-hyped Blair Witch Project, which was a boring piece of shit.

IMO (ugh can't believe I actually used that), they're great. I've only seen the second and third as of now but theey're a far cry from the gore ridden movies. Think about it this way: there's no blood, no dismemberment, but there is still a considerable scare factor. I could go on.

So they're worth seeing? From the trailers, they look like those obviously faked YouTube "ghost" videos that people do as a joke. But I wouldn't mind watching the movies, I suppose, if they ever came on TV or someone loaned me the DVDs.

Thats the point. They film it like that for effect. Why show fear from a third person point of view when you can see it from the person that will most likely die by the end of the movie?
I'm with Big V. Honestly, I thought Hotel California was really just a weirdo story about a Stephen-King-inspired hotel that consumes/imprisons the souls of those who stay in it.

I would like someone in the band to explain what he meant exactly by 'we haven't had that spirit here since 1969'.
He's either too pretentious to explain it, or he really did fuck up the spirit bit. I thought 1969 might be a reference to that Summer of '69 song, which was basically all about reminiscing about better times in one's life. Then I found out that song came out almost a decade later, so... guess that was wrong.
The guitar work is the best thing about the song anyway. It could've been a hit without any lyrics.
Edit: Or a bigger hit with good lyrics.

For the love of god don't waste your time or money on those piece of shit excuses for movies. If you didn't like the blair witch project this is gonna be even more shitty.
@4-13: yeah the guitar work is still awesome as fuck, and the song is great regardless. I was forced to sing that song sometimes because I was the only person around who knew all the lyrics.

Beavis and Butt-head was really good and they kept it true to the original. I mean, surprisingly so. The exact same voices and character traits, sketch style slightly washed out animation, etc. The only thing different was the stuff they made fun of. It was like being transported back in time watching it. Pretty cool.
I never much cared for Hotel California... But I really can't stand The Eagles, and that's kind of borne from the same hatred I have for DMB. I was relegated to listening to both The Eagles and Dave Matthews Band for a year in some high school classes which...
You know...
Fuck that.

It feels so much like Doom 3. Nothing but cheap scares like fucking everywhere (it kinda works at first but you get used to it real fast). And besides, I don't really classify cheap scares under horror, personally...

Well, what IS horror anyway? I startle at the shock scenes, but I also startle when my cat lets a fart (That's in fact a bad example, because cat farts ARE the horror (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)) I would so love to se a movie that gets me really afraid, meaning that I'll have to peek over my shoulder and have gloomy thoughts for at least a few hours....
That new Abilify commercial I keep seeing on TV is so dumb. It's like someone skinned the Cookie Monster and now his pelt is floating around and he's sad because he can't eat cookies anymore.
And the doctor pulls down a screen and it shows him explaining the medication warnings on it while he's standing right next to it? Why didn't he just stand there and explain it himself? What a stupid creepy commercial.
I really hope that you wasn't REALLY scared with Paranormal Activity, yo.
That shit was a poor excuse of something you would call Horror. Then again, I haven't been spooked from anything in the movies in a long time. But I do know that Paranormal Activity doesn't even come fucking close.
That shit was more funny than it was scary.... AND IT WASN'T EVEN FUCKING FUNNY.
