They stupidly changed Aquaman, the Flash and Batman's* suit so as to be "comic accurate", but for whatever reason they didn't do the same to Wonder Woman's costume.
* Partially though. Which comic book Batman exactly thought that honeycomb-shaped holes in his armor plates is a good idea?
I still can't get over the fact that one of the statues of Easter Island got an afro. I mean, it's way harder to give a stone afro to a stone head statue than to a human. I wonder if something made it especially important that at least one of them would get an afro.
On another note, that show should be more recent than others, yet the statues don't have their eyes. No idea if they were removed after being re-added, or if the images are older, or if it's a weirder situation.
It would seem Coraline "Remastered" did not contain any new scenes at all. The only thing that's added was some BTS interview about stop motion after the credits ended. How disappointing. Everyone clearly expected the film be given major alterations to accommodate all the previously deleted scenes. All that hype turned to flattened dough.
Another day, another troll on FB. Insisted the correct terminology is Themyscirans and not Amazons. Clearly someone who doesn't know what he's talking about. Amazonians and Themiscirans are synonymous. I also remembered clearly the term Amazons was used in Wonder Woman (2017) as well as Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). Not just that, I'm 100% certain that other medias (animated movies, animated series, comics) also use Amazons way more often than Themyscirans.

I would have thought Themyscirans is based on their origin (island), and Amazons is based on the type of characters they are (warrior female tribe), but that's a vague idea, context/universe could change everything.

Amazon/Amazonian refers to them as a race. Kelvin Walker didn't even try to (incorrectly) correct thousands of comments and articles that used the term Amazon/Amazonian.

The choice of artwork on coinage reflects a lot about the national character of a people - or at least those that govern them and control what form currency takes. It's interesting to compare the symbology and motifs present on coins throughout a nation's lifespan - what is prized above all else. Images or words, principles or people, landscapes or lives. Or some combination thereof.
Some are exaltant, and reflect a sort of optimism in the nation and its people - however misguided or not possessing such optimism may be or have been. Others fail to inspire much else other than use, utility, and demarcation of value. Some are laiden with symbols of the state....others, near entirely devoid.
Those that intrigue me most are of vanished states, or of currency now disused due to being superseded by another. They are windows into a different time, placement of people, prevailing spirit of conducting statecraft. Now, they are equivalent in the minds of many to so much metallic junk...save for, I suppose, those like myself who have a different notion of value other than strictly monetary usefulness.
I'm a fan of the peace dollar myself; I just wish that the original plan for the eagle on the reverse to be breaking a sword had been kept. But the general public wouldn't have any of it, even after WWI. Because I guess they were preoccupied with "winning" the war instead of finding enduring peace.
I think it's a truly beautiful coin, but apparently contemporary views differed.
QUOTE
Liberty is getting younger. Take it from the new 'Peace Dollar,' put in circulation yesterday, the young woman who has been adorning silver currency for many years, never looked better than in the 'cart wheel' that the Philadelphia Mint has just started to turn out. The young lady, moreover, has lost her Greek profile. Helenic [sic] beauty seems to have been superseded by the newer 'flapper' type.
Assuming this should be read as derogatory towards 'flappers,' anyway.
Also found a view on coin grading that I wish was more widely spoken of grading other things.
QUOTE
One big waste of money for many new collectors is when they send their coins to authentication services and pay $15 to $25 to have them graded and put in pieces of plastic. All they really get out of it is a piece of plastic instead of putting together a nice collection that they can hold in their hands and examine in detail.
Fortunately the peace dollar is (at least for now) quite a bit cheaper than the Morgan dollar that preceded it. I don't care much for the Morgan dollar design, although it is interesting as a historical artifact.
I have a bunch of old stamps; I wonder if any of them are from the Weimar republic.

Well, I do prefer animation. I guess then live action can wait.
Oh noes, its a trap, its like an alternate universe sequel. Its weird they just didn't say its a sequel.
It continues from the end of the movie with an alternate ending with the main female character then using her powers to go on a journey of self discovery to maybe rescue Scott.

Already watched the first episode (I laughed at the Sonic and Jaleel White reference by Scott Pilgrim).
And have figured something was up, judging from all the angry comments on FB. e.g.:
QUOTE
Imagine Captain America died in his first movie and had to rely on Captain Britain to save the day!!!
QUOTE
Killing off the MC in his own show!?? It's not about Scott Pilgrim anymore!!!"
QUOTE
They turned everything that was good about Canada and turn it into an American one!!!
Not entirely against AU or retelling. Just that I was thinking the same as you did: that it's going to be a close adaptation, if not 1:1, to the source. Although, to be honest, of all the animated shows on Netflix (and other streaming services for that matter) that I watched and loved, I have never read the comics or books that they are based off.
- Some dialogues are so... anime-ish. It's like the lines were written in Japanese first, then translated by someone who at least has basic understanding in English but has no idea how Americans actually talk. - Found out that in the 2010 movie (via a clip on Youtube), the original subject brought up by Scott when he and Ramona first met was actually about Pac-Man. It was changed to Sonic the Hedgehog for the Netflix version for whatever reason. - Netflix version of Envy Adams is hotter than Brie Larson's portrayal. - Roxy and Kim kissed but didn't end up starting a new relationship. I laughed because of my subverted expectations and the women's apathetic reaction after kissing.
