It's just internet slang that has stuck around, bub. Pretty sure, anyways.

Anyway, last thing I was really thinking about was bug-out kits and bushcraft learnin'. I'm really looking forward to doing lots of camping this coming year and I think it would be fun and a really good learning exercise to set up kits for if/when shit hits the fan.

In that anime I'm watching, the translators left the word "kimodameshi" untranslated.
While studying it, it gave:

kimo = disgusting
dame = bad
shi = doing

kimodameshi => doing bad and disgusting things

Understood from the context that this is what would simply normally be translated as "test of courage", before confirming it with a translation website.
Yet, while in this case, etymology doesn't work really well to understand the word, when you think seriously about it, the translation isn't that far from reality.

It's not so much bad, but around when Leia bops into the movie, the script takes a nosedive and moves at a glacial pace causing some pretty cringeworthy and eyerolling sequences to play out during the last half hour to forty-five minutes, depending on your tolerance for that kind of thing.

Went to all known bookstores around the city searching for Svetlana Chmakova's graphic novel titled Awkward. No luck...
