QUOTE(radixius @ May 23 2011, 22:26) Look, I just apologized.
My sense of humor really doesn't work in this setting. :sincere moment: I understand. Apology accepted. Really, I harbor no hard feelings. Real Life is just kicking my ass as usual, I'm not handling it well, and it's coming out in all the wrong places (see previous rage-hiatus). My last post in this thread was an attempt to laugh it off, but I guess that doesn't come across well with plain text and no emoticons. And I've got nothing OT to say, so.. yeah.

Would it have worked better had I used an exclamation point? I was actually trying to be jocular.

I woke up around 3 or 4 AM this morning and turned on my TV. As I was switching channels, I came across the Judas video. OMG, that was awful. Luckily, I didn't have the sound on.
Then today, I saw bits of the Born This Way video on E! news where she's dancing in her underwear. She's a scrawny little thing and looks kinda sickly. Shitty dancer, too.

But we should be ourselves! That's what she tells us!
Like we need to be told something as simple as that...

Some people are dumb and need to be told things.

The people that are that stupid should have died years ago, though.

"Just be yourself" has to be one of the most pointless pieces of advice ever.

QUOTE(Xilleon @ May 24 2011, 13:43) Born this way is not that good of a album to me.
I'm finally getting my chance to go through it and I'm scratching my head a bit. I think this album is full of a lot of average songs and just a few gems. The Fame/Fame Monster were both solid albums from top to bottom where average was unexpected, where this one the gems are the unexpected. I think my main problem is that there was simply too much focus on the music but not enough on her just singing. She can damn sure sing but I was overwhelmed by the amount of songs where she became the background and it was ultimately a glorified chorus on repeat with no substance. I do think there are some really good ones on here in Born This Way, Edge of Glory, Bad Kids, Fashion of His Love and Hair. In fact, I actually think Hair might be one of her strongest to date. But then there's the disasters like Government Hooker (one I expected to kick ass). Not only just the kinda off songs, but why the fuck is the album edited? Are you an artist for adults or aren't you? Why can you talk about riding disco sticks and make all manner of fucking references but once you actually want to drop the F-Bomb, you go out of your to fucking bleep it? All-in-all, I'd say it's an enjoyable album but certainly sits at the bottom of her work so far. I think she's going to be quick back to the studio to get cracking on the next one since she is just not going to be a constant chart topper with this one. She'll sit at the top for a bit on her name alone, but she's going to lose the dance/club/pop casual fans on this one (much like she did with Judas, which only got as high as 19 on the charts).

Weird, a gimmick artist stops being good/relevant?

I didn't say she stopped being good, just that it's not as strong as the previous albums so far. I know you'd love to write her musical obituary, but I don't see that happening quite yet.
Man, you are straight oozing the bile today bro. I guess because it's not some indie band no one has heard of or gives a rats ass about, it must be gimmicky and garbage right?

Are you sure about that?
Or are you being defensive?

I'm quite sure you'd like her to disappear into obscurity. And sure, I'd call myself a bit defensive on the matter. Not liking her music, her clothing, her... well anything is perfectly understandable. Not everybody can look past some of the clothes she wears without thinking "what the fuck is wrong with her" or understand how anybody could like the type of music she does, but I'm not particularly keen on the use of "gimmick" as a descriptor. Her music and her WTF type personality and attire really is her, not just a selling point.
Defensive to an extent, but nothing that would grow into ravenous fandom resulting in an argument.

I must be dripping with bile.
Though, I forget if today was the day that I edited and wrote a doujin simply for Grahf's enjoyment, asked Tenboro if there was a way to give everyone dividends from it, mentioned I got a new hat that was like my old hat, declared I was interested in an upcoming game, wrote a blog about how much I appreciate a friend for introducing me to the music I love today and declared that I like myself. It must have been a dream.

I didn't read your biography before making that proclamation. I've only had two things to work with today and both of them involved the same subject matter. Deadly combination.
