You're probably right. I was thinking about that too, but I guess I'll never know until I try. I listen to some songs that I would never listen to otherwise while I run. I just need fast heavy drumming and someone shouting at me to get me moving.

Collective Soul has a song called Run. Ironically, it makes me feel like taking a nap.
I really don't run much, and have barely broken in my new mp3 player at all, but I can probably pick things I'd be likely to use during a jog or other exercise:
3 Doors Down - Better Life; Smack AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill; TNT Aerosmith - Mama Kin; Back in the Saddle Alice in Chains - Again; Them Bones; We Die Young; Man in the Box; Put You Down; I Know Somethin'; Real Thing (I'm a fan of them, if you can't tell) Alter Bridge - Isolation; One Day Remains; Metalingus Buckcherry - Broken Glass; Recovery; Dead; Tired of You; Fallout; Imminent Bail Out Bullets and Octane - ...well, pretty much all of it
Shit, this is getting too long already. I'm actually thinking of using this list now, though, so I guess I'll keep going.
Bush - Everything Zen; Machinehead; Monkey Disturbed - Warrior (it does get me pumped, I'll admit) Drowning Pool - Let the Sin Begin; Regret; Children of the Gun; Horns Up Faith No More - Epic Five Finger Death Punch* - Dying Breed; Bulletproof; No One Gets Left Behind; pretty much anything off Way of the Fist Foo Fighters - All My Life; The Pretender; Monkey Wrench George Thorogood - Gear Jammer Godsmack - Devil's Swing; Forever Shamed Guns N' Roses - You Could Be Mine (I'd include Welcome to the Jungle if I wasn't so sick of hearing it everywhere) Jet - Cold Hard Bitch; Take It Or Leave It; Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is; That's All Lies; Rip It Up Masafumi Takada (God Hand and No More Heroes soundtracks) - Yet... Oh See Mind; Devil May Sly; Handsome Dynamite; Be Ready For It; Steel Python; Mach 13 Elephant Explosion**; Dynamite Rider Methods of Mayhem - Fight Song Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil; Kickstart My Heart; White Trash Circus Motorhead - Line in the Sand Nickelback (fuck you) - Side of a Bullet; Burn It to the Ground; Flat on the Floor; Because of You The Offspring - Come Out and Play; The Kids Aren't Alright Papa Roach - Kick in the Teeth Quiet Riot - Come On Feel The Noise (don't care how they spell it) Shinedown - Devour; Sound of Madness; Cry for Help; Sin with a Grin; Yer Majesty; Begin Again; Atmosphere Sick Puppies - War; You're Going Down; Survive; Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It ZZ Top - Got Me Under Pressure
*: You might like these guys, Pseudo, if you like being yelled at **: God dammit, I keep forgetting how much I love this song

Jesus Christ that is awful. Nothing like having children sing a song about the moment before you die. Horrible choice. It's no better than Discovery playing Teeth during it's promos for Swamp Brothers or Shark Week. I get it Discovery, you like to show animals and their teeth while playing it, but the song is kinda about oral sex dawg.

From all the artists you named I like 3 Doors Down, Bush, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Faith No More, Godsmack, Guns 'N Roses, Nickelback (rad absolutely abhors these guys and I find it hilarious), The Offspring, and Papa Roach. However I wouldn't use the majority of these for my list. I'm building a new playlist and this is what I got so far for a workout: Mudvayne - Fucking Determined DevilDriver - Meet the Wretched Coal Chamber - Fiend The Used - Blood on My Hands Diabolic - Frontlines Immortal Technique - Rebel Arms Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem Rage Against the Machine - Pistol Grip Pump Metallica - Fuel Godsmack - I Fucking Hate You Fuel - Won't Back Down (Give You Hell) Powerman 5000 - Bombshell ... and fuse it with the old list I have, but eliminate tons of songs so I have only one song per artist on the entire thing. Running with playlists on shuffle is interesting, because you never know what's coming next and it actually keeps your mind distracted from the run while you try to guess what's coming next. QUOTE(radixius @ Jan 5 2012, 16:29) So much angry music. I don't get it.
It's for a pump, to get us in the mood. It's there for when I need it (like a good workout). I didn't say this is my regular music. Most of the time I'm listening to something from like the infinite amounts of Gundam 00 soundtracks, the two OSTs of Gundam Unicorn, something classical like Beethoven, or spanish music that isn't angry at all. When I drive, its usually rap or metal, whatever happens to be in my cd player. This post has been edited by Pseudoshy: Jan 6 2012, 02:41

I don't have much in the way of uplifting/energizing, so I mainly settled on angry. It's energetic, anyway. Really, how would you picture me working out in a gym? I'm walkin' on sunshine! Actually... I did use to have an alternate playlist that I used from time to time back when I was going to the gym 5 times a week. It was full of happy or at least mellow music. Depeche Mode, I had some Beethoven in there (excerpts from the 5th and 7th), Blink 182, some Spanish artists I'm not gonna bother naming because no one will know them (more than likely), The Cranberries, Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, and other slow stuff. Sometimes I was in a smiling mood, you know?

I wonder how many people who listen to Gaga actually understand what her songs are about. I don't, but I don't listen to her much (at all), so fair game. I haven't worked out lately, but when I do it's always motivating stuff. Nothing aggressive or harsh sounding though. Rob Dougan, Ludovico Einaudi, some bits and pieces from old video games, and some liquid drum and bass. This post has been edited by GrazedCat: Jan 6 2012, 03:18

I do have him somewhere on my iTunes, but I was talking about more contemporary artists like Juanes, Ricardo Arjona, and Mana. I don't think I could workout to Vicente Fernandez, unless the workout was improving my alcohol tolerance. The Gaga question would be one to ask cappy. Matter of fact, he will more than likely respond next time he sees this. I do have some purely instrumental tracks. My favorite are drums that have great beats. I really like Latin Percussion when used in metal and other genres of rock. If I'm listening to video game music I don't feel like working out anymore, but hey, to each his gnome. I mean own.

I would love to see arabic music be more implemented in modern music like electrical and rock stu... OK, let me rephrase that: I bet that there's a ton of such music, thing is I just don't get what I should type into the search machine..... something like "Arabic Drum'n'Bass"? (Example) Unlikely.... Also: Pseudo, it's not exactly pinpoint Latin, since it has many origins from Africa (Arican percussion rules anyway (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)) But you might wanna listen into Candomble music(Dunno if correct but surely close enough). If you wanna know more about Candomble/Yourba cultures themselves, then you do it on your own, but I can tell that Candomble music was extremly influenntial for Latin music and percussion, mainly around Ccuba and, IIRC, Brazil.... Eddy: Ugh, nevermind.... Most o the examples suck..... I didn't dig in very deeply, but I really expected to stumble across the complex and still powerul rhythms that i have been taught while going through events that i don't want to explain further.... I'll look it up myself later. When I was in Iraq I was actually listening to Iraqi radio stations and I was thinking the same thing (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Great minds think alike? Ok, maybe retarded minds instead, but we still think alike! This, while its composed in Japan, sort of reminds me of arabic music in the drumming beat and whatever wind instrument they're using: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Kztha3EuUQI wish I had asked someone what the names of the artists on the radio were because some stuff sounded pretty good. Maybe one day I'll google some arabic artists and find their music. Also, this is kinda off topic but how come I never see you on skype dude? And awesome avy. In truth? Very few. I don't entirely blame casual listeners though as her meanings can be convoluted, arguably unnecessarily convoluted. Some are very easy (You and I, Born This Way), others a tiny bit cryptic (Poker Face, Judas) and others require the artist explaining it or a trip to the interbuttz (Telephone, Alejandro). Her music has success because you can almost compare to old school cartoons. An easy appeal on the surface with little thought but much more detail to those who understand it. Still, Edge of Glory doesn't exactly hide it's meaning so the Kids Bop people had to know.

Well, take a look around..... it's not hard to become retarded in this shitplace of your home planet. At least you're able to admit it instead of being severly mentally ill while being called and percieved as normal, as it is with the biggest part of, if not the entire of the population. Also, better don't dabble too much with that post, what I just said, while having notions of what I think to be true, was meant rather jokingly.... QUOTE This, while its composed in Japan, sort of reminds me of arabic music in the drumming beat and whatever wind instrument they're using: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Kztha3EuUQYES OH MY GOD!!! But you CAN hear the japanese hue out of it.... That also reminded me why I used Drum'n'bass as example.... Those typical quad beats that are underlined with backgrounding triple beats that are the key part in the high-paced drive of DnB music originated in the arab (I don't know wheter I use the correct terms and I also don't care. He who knows a bit about music will get what I mean, he who doesn't probably wouldn't care anyway). Geez, these arabs have brought quite a lot of good stuff. (They really did- despite islam) QUOTE Also, this is kinda off topic but how come I never see you on skype dude? And awesome avy.
Yeah, I am hardly in skype because hardly anyone else is, additionally I forget often. And you don't forget that we live about ten hours apart. Anyways, if you really have anything interesting to discuss (We could again compare my naive thoughts on the military with your experiences (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)) then I'll try to think of it more often. I think I do fine understanding what you mean. I think. Anyways I don't ever dabble too much on your posts unless it was really confusing (in which case I would let you know). QUOTE(Benjiro @ Jan 5 2012, 19:10) YES OH MY GOD!!! But you CAN hear the japanese hue out of it....
This is another one, from the same soundtrack. If you haven't figured out from the album cover or haven't seen the anime, the main character is from some middle eastern country. He grows up as a child guerrilla fighter and was brainwashed by some Muslim dude into fighting in their losing holy war. His country gets taken over and he somehow (its explained in the anime but I don't want to spoil it) ends up piloting a Gundam years later. That's why there's some Arabic sounding music in that show and soundtracks. It's a great show if you ever want to get into Gundam. I highly recommend it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lbmuP2bonkQUOTE(Benjiro @ Jan 5 2012, 19:10) Geez, these arabs have brought quite a lot of good stuff. (They really did- despite islam)
I really loved their hookah. I can find some good stuff here but it just felt more authentic smoking it over there... There was a traveling Jordanian salesman wandering the desert roads that we came across on a patrol and after checking his ID and all sorts of stuff he and his partner invited our squad to sit down and smoke hookah with them. Turned out they used to be Jordanian infantrymen. Anyways, this isn't the time or place for a story, but yeah hookah is one of the great things Arabs have brought to the world. That's when I started remembering our interesting Skype convos from the past. Don't worry about it, I was just curious.
