Majo no Takkyuubin (Kikis delivery).
Old, but it was the last one I saw.
Nice, couldve been longer, but still better than 100% disney/western productions anyday.

A zombie movie (read: low budget) on Syfy called "Steve Niles' Remains". Again, they failed almost right out of the gate by the zombies inexplicably being able to run, use tools. and the fact they they could sleep, "piss", etc. It was so cheesy that a lone woman was able to hold a crowd of zombies at bay by pointing a handgun at the crowd: it literally showed the zombies with visible apprehension as though they were afraid of getting shot.
Secondly, all of the zombie movie/post apocalyptic cliches were present. People can't immediately tell that there's something seriously wrong with "person x", even though their flesh is rotting and they're covered in blood. Radio transmission from people who claim they can protect you, but are actually malevolent, and they all end up dead by the end? Check. Plot by survivors to "escape" the zombies by going to another city? Check. Person betrays group, tries to escape on their own, only to get surrounded and devoured? Check. B-movie "plastic explosive + gas leak in one room = explosion that levels the entire, rather large building, yet the freezer somehow is impervious"? Check. People keeping their zombified brother around and feeding them (almost like a pet)? Check. No real explanation of how the hell the zombies occurred, other than people that were exposed to radiation from some whateverthefuckitwas, and that somehow they can spread (radiation poisoning?) through biting? Check. Too low budget to actually show someone turn on screen? Check. I think anyone who hasn't seen it probably gets how lame it was by now.
Of course, it still managed to be better than the 2004 version of "Dawn of the Dead", which should have been titled "Yawn of the Dead".

The Lorax. And I regret having watched it. If I had known it was a musical, I would have saved myself the pain. Also, it was WAY to gay and childish for someone of my caliber, especially the climax, where all of the Snheeds suddenly went from "Destroy the seed!" to "Let's let it grow." after Grammy knocked down the city wall, which is the kind of baby mentality I hate. Also, the ending there reminded me of films such as Logan's Run and Aeon Flux, where people were kept inside a walled city, dependent on the leadership, and thinking the world outside to be hell or uninhabitable (except in Logan's Run's case, there WERE a lot of cats outside).
As far as I could tell, this "Unse'ler" or whatever was the main character. The other characters were somewhat less memorable (except for Grammy). There was Kid noone remembers his name kid, older highschool girl girl, Mom, Baby man, etc. And the Lorax didn't even play a central role in the story at all.
The central thesis seemed to be "be a tree-hugger and you'll get laid", which is unfortunate, as all earthy-hipsters are ugly.
Also present was the theme of pedophilia, as the boy character wanted to bang the obviously much older highschool girl character, who also wanted to bang him. When I tried to converse with my mom and my dad about what the hell they were smoking when they decided to do that, the first reply was "They were the same age! Girls grow faster than boys at that age!", which shows a fundamental lack of knowledge that girls grow faster than boys UP until puberty, at which point boys begin to grow faster, and girl's height growth slows. After I pointed this out, they accused me of having sex on the brain, as they ran out of arguments and decided ad homonyms would be the best solution. Oh well, we can't all be as observant/ intellectual as I am.
Anyways, the constant musicaling was annoying, the good attributes were bogged down in a mire of shit, and other stuff. I'd give the film an overall 3/10, and that's me being generous.

Resident Evil: Damnation. It was alright, except that I was expecting the guy no one knows the name of who infected himself with the Control Plaga to burst into giant mutant bug form, which never happened (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Also, loved how Leon was complaining about not having had breakfast at the beginning, but it never showed him eat anything, and he wasn't complaining after an assumed 24 hours without food. Maybe he had gum to tide him over?
