Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
Discovered I quite like "We'll Meet Again" by Vera Lynn. Does not strike me as particularly comedic; most characters and their motivations are rather believable - including General Ripper, who seems positioned as the most obviously deranged but is not so far off from thinking I've encountered stated seriously. Perhaps that is partially a consequence of things like flouride being perceived as a bit more universally silly to discuss critically when the film was released versus now. At least General Ripper is sincere in his delusions and not self-serving (in his mind at least). The same cannot be said of the others who attempt to angle for advantage amidst imminent demise.
