QUOTE(galdon @ Dec 20 2012, 03:49) Just ran into a monster by the name of Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz
Pretty sure that violates the rule against monsters who's name is just a jumble of letters.
QUOTE(galdon @ Dec 20 2012, 20:04) ok, correction: it's just a jumble of letters that refers to a slightly better known jumble of letters.
That's actually a pretty possible name and surname in Poland. There for sure are IRL people named Grzegorz Brzeczyszczykiewicz. No matter how strange it might seem (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

No matter how strange it might seem (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I have nothing against the Polish deciding to name their kids an unpronounceable pile of consonants with a couple accentuating vowels thrown in here and there. Doesn't make it any less of a jumble of letters though. This post has been edited by galdon: Dec 21 2012, 00:16

If someone uses that old riddle "What long, hard thing does a Polish groom give his new bride on their wedding day?" in the next post, I'm going to be heartily offended and PC butthurt...

To be fair, Grzegorz sounds like a relatively easy to pronounce name. I am curious though, how do you suggest the Polish change their last name to something like say, an actual pronounceable pile of consonants that doesn't have a couple of accentuating vowels thrown in here and there?

The Vowel to Consonant ratio needs to be worked on a bit. generally once you hit 3 consecutive consonants you have issues. They managed to fit 4 in a row in the middle of that last name. Counting Y as a vowel in this case, or they'd reach 9 in a row.

I have a monster with a Polish name, I see no problems myself. You may not like Polish names, but it doesn't rise to the 'Reportable' level. The vast majority of names and phrases are non-English. Japanese anyone? That alone should make it fair for those that wish to use, Polish, Italian, French, etc. They're monsters, it's a game, and supposedly for fun.

A Polak goes to the eye doctor. The bottom line of the eye chart has the letters:
C Z Y N Q S T A S Z.
The Optometrist asks, "Can you read this?"
"Read it?" the Polak replies, "I know the guy."

i didn't know it was a real name when i reported it. Although I do now have a very.. interesting image of the Polish naming system now. Apparently in Poland you grab a handful of Scrabble tiles and then try to arrange them so they score as high as possible. Eddy Izzard

Are you Croatian? I believe Croatian have more consonants than Polish. For example, looking at the map of Europe the only place where I can find a city name without any vowel is in Croatia. Have you been in the seaside city of Krk?

Anywho, a real monster to report.
0 2 Spawned Monster A: MID=47711 (Scary Ghosts) LV=77 HP=1873
Obviously just a misspelling of the standard monster "Scary Ghost".

In Croatian, 'r' can take the place of a vowel (similar to 'y' in English), so that's not a vowel-less word according to the local language's rules. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) QUOTE(moopster @ Dec 23 2012, 07:24) Anywho, a real monster to report.

... it looks like a plural, rather then a misspelling (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE(shikieikinonono @ Dec 23 2012, 20:27) Cockatrice, Cocratkice
Just saw that one and wanted to report it, but you beat me to it. Anyways, +1 to that one. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Grzegorz Brzęczeszczykiewicz (to write it properly) That is an old real and also fictional name from old comedy (1970) about WWII. Ask any German to say it = dead while laughing like mad. Title translates to: "[ www.imdb.com] How I've unleashed WWII". Timeless classic. On a historical side note: there is at least one record proving that Polish king used similarly tongue breaking phrase to prove "Polishness" under penalty of death. But on the other side. There is place called e.g. Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Even Germans call it Ga-Pa, not to mention people from outside Bundesrepublik. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) BTW: C Z Y N Q S T A S Z. Not possible, that is just gibberish. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) If you are interested in Scrabble board then try this: Konstantynopolitańczykiewiczówna. It is very, very old - if not ancient - female surname, it is probably dead in this century, but I can't say this with 100% certainty. It means simply: female citizen of Constantinople.
