Why not let the person who has the monster change the name, they are still able to change it after anyway, better them have the choice, no one wants a monster they didn't name and most probably think there names aren't that bad to start with.
Heres my suggestion:
At least three people have to vote for a name change
After three have voted for a name change the monster goes out of commission
Monster becomes active again once owner changes the name and at least one of the name change voters approves
To let the voters know they have changed their monsters name they should PM the voters to confirm
This could work, with a time limit, to prevent monsters of inactive players form being voted out that way. Let's say, the owner has a week to propose an acceptable name, if they don't, the renaming passes to the voters.
Not sure if it would not be too much work for Ten, but at least he can consider this. I think I'll PM him with the link to this post (and so I'll repeat the last idea we have worked out):
QUOTE
The best idea we have is to allow players, likely of high level (could be an unloackable ability at some level, perhaps - 300 ability tree begs for something like this...) to forcibly change the name of a monster.
It would require several (three?) players to agree on this, and there would be a public list of monsters under discussion and who voted, to avoid any abuse.
Beginning a vote may cost something (1 chaos token?), and the voting players would suggest a name, with the nominator having the first pick, and if he declines, this being passed onto the second or the third voter.

Hey Tenboro can you release the Monster named Fluttershy. Someone has caught her before me but he does not feed her properly since she is still very low level.
You raise an interesting point. They are surely many interesting monsters who are not fed properly. How to deal with that is an interesting question. My tentative solution to that would be to allow players to donate crystals to any monster, and once a player has donated more than half of the crystals that a given monster was expanded with, the control should pass to them. This probably needs more brainstorming...
