QUOTE(hitokiri84 @ Aug 31 2011, 21:33) And how would that work exactly? We couldn't just collaborate to remove any high resistance monster that gets in our way?
I think players at that level know what's good for the game. But hey, make the expunge log public, and if we spot any problems, Ten can revoke the privilege.

Then we just be borderline retarded so we can keep our Job (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I can already see how this will work. Damn then Wretched Egg is getting on my nerves. It is obviously not a Giant so I might as well delete it. Randomly Generated Maze? Should have been a Mechanoid > deleted. Bunko? Should have been a Humanoid > deleted. Ichy? i don*t like that guy so i make up a reason to delete his annoying high resist Monster!

We can always just follow the Monster Naming Guidelines.
Monsters that can go are the duplicates and the profanity ones. And also the ones with stupid names like Test0000, 12121212, 3be3do4ka, and the like.

That's my point. We need something to deal with that crap. Public logs will take care of the rest.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I do have to agree with you though, Wretched is getting a tad too annoying for my tastes, we should ban her. Also, it's pointless to post anything here. He doesn't even check the HV subforums anymore. Your best bet would be to PM him, at least he still reads those. I think.

Rather than a forced delete, how about a forced name change?

Excellent idea - this should alleviate the concerns about voting out monsters that are too tough. But who gets to change the name? I'd suggest the first person to spot the monster (unless they pass, then we can take suggestions from the forum or elsewhere).

Yeah I was worried about that as well. I was thinking of a few possibilities: First person to spot (like you say) First person to be willing to fork out chaos tokens (if we were to make it cost chaos tokens to change name) Default name of something really lame like Giant1 or [Owner]'s Giant or the like
The only concern then is bypassing the > 100PL rule that T put in for monsters above that threshold.

Ten? Perhaps, but let's flesh out something useful without too many objections before the PM. QUOTE(dcherry @ Sep 1 2011, 19:19) Yeah I was worried about that as well. All three options, we can throw them at Ten and see which he likes best / is easiest to code. What is this 100PL rule? I have not heard this one before.

Actually, forget what I said, PM'ing isn't the fastest way. A better method would be to post here. Make sure to surround your post with pony pictures. Lots of 'em. Cute ones.

So to sum up the lastest discussion, the best idea we have is to allow players, likely of high level (could be an unloackable ability at some level, perhaps) to forcibly change the name of a monster.
It would require several (three?) players to agree on this, and there would be a public list of monsters under discussion and who voted, to avoid any abuse.
Beginning a vote may cost something (1 chaos token?), and the voting players would suggest a name, with the nominator having the first pick, and if he declines, this being passed onto the second or the third voter.
Did I miss anything? I want to make sure we have the best idea summarized here before I bother Ten about it.

I think that yes, there should be an upfront cost to nominating a monster for rename/removal, but that cost should be refunded if the movement is successful. There shouldn't really be a penalty for taking the time to actually improve the HV, just a penalty for abuse and wasting other's time.
If it's not too difficult to copy, you might take the tribunal system LoL uses to have it's community self moderate bad conduct as a base. After every game, there is the option to file a report on any player you played with. Rather than having an employee filter through all these reports, players are allowed to sign up to judge these reports. If you sign up, you are mailed (in our case, we could mooglemail) X number of reports a week to judge. If the majority votes to pardon, nothing happens, if the majority votes punish the offender is banned. If as judge you vote with the majority, you are given a paltry amount of in game currency for your help. If you consistently vote on the losing side, your judgement rights are revoked.

QUOTE(Vasistas @ Sep 9 2011, 05:56) how about a whitelist just wanted to bring up one more moronic idea (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/faint.gif) A whitelist of what? Players of monsters? Since most are good, in either category, I think it would be less work to deal with the bad ones rather than approve good ones.

Why not let the person who has the monster change the name, they are still able to change it after anyway, better them have the choice, no one wants a monster they didn't name and most probably think there names aren't that bad to start with. Heres my suggestion: At least three people have to vote for a name change After three have voted for a name change the monster goes out of commission Monster becomes active again once owner changes the name and at least one of the name change voters approves To let the voters know they have changed their monsters name they should PM the voters to confirm

Hey Tenboro can you release the Monster named Fluttershy. Someone has caught her before me but he does not feed her properly since she is still very low level.
