Even though it's still an unfinished experimental system, people obviously care about building up their monsters, otherwise they wouldn't be paying 100C for each crystal. Judging from the poll I'm guessing you put up in order to shut me up, my assessment seems accurate.

Logical fail. The fact that the system is unfinished unequivocally prevents you from assigning a motive to these people's action.

Suppose:
You add a system by which players could profit/benefit from their monsters.

Would you not expect that to cause the prices of crystals to increase? The people who had already bought crystals and invested them in their monsters would gain this benefit immediately at a lower cost.

And, really:
1) I wouldn't attempt to use a poll to prove anything because it would be by no means produce an accurate survey of the population. The results would be limited to forum users, and people with strong opinions. That's a double foul. (Incidentally, an exception to the validity of polls on this site would be polls in regards to how to handle expunging. Since a large percentage of expungers are forum users, you can be more confident that your survey is accurate.)
2) If I WAS attempting to prove a point, I'd have written the poll and the answers in such a way as to create a bias in favor of the view I supported. Does it look like I did that?
3) You don't bow to complaints about changes to the HV system. Admittedly, the only non-nerf I can think of that caused enough backlash was after the change to the gems, and even then, despite a split vote, you didn't change it back. If you were going to scrap the system (I actually thought you would when it was obvious it was going to be a naming shit show), you would almost assuredly have done it before 5.1. (I'm assuming you wouldn't remove something you had used your free time to add functionality to based on old complaints)

I'm not sure what to make of the results. Option #4 is too huge of a wildcard, and I'm not so arrogant as to make assumptions about how they would vote if the answer was no, you will never be able to profit. Answering that would require a second poll or for me to have split that into two different answers. I don't feel like doing the former, and its too late for me to do the latter.

It's obvious because you made a poorly founded comment saying basically that the system is utter fail, then put up a poll about it right afterwards. No reasonable person would conclude otherwise.

A reasonable person might be swayed by the fact that I said otherwise,provided a multi-pronged argument as to why I wouldn't use a poll, and commented as to how I have no reason to disavow the poll. (The latter would definitely require an annoying argument into the fundamental issue of democracy: Majority rule versus minority rights.)

The only means by which it is possible to correct the problems I mentioned (naming, and people designing monsters to be as annoying as possible) seems to me to be to remove all free will from the process. If you were going to do that, you wouldn't have even created the system in the first.

The monsters people could created didn't came with a 'blank' stats and can do whatever you want with it. It was already 'balanced' in a certain way by Tenb, people can only make them a bit stronger.

Tend still has total controls over it... Otherwise the Undeads won't going to have -50 fire resists, Mechanoids with -50 lightning resists, or see me go butthurt about there's no element immune for mobs. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

This is true. Tenboro still has a significant amount of control, but I don't agree with him ceding any of it.
