QUOTE(hyl @ Mar 22 2011, 13:58) Like i have said, bahamute is not unique for this forum . That's like saying the monster that i created Kanade Tachibana should also not be allowed, because someone else has that as user name.
If someone else has that as a username, maybe your monster shouldn't be allowed. That user should at least have first choice when it comes to their own name, IMO. QUOTE(Conquest101 @ Mar 23 2011, 13:48) There shouldn't be any forced classification based on name choice.
Maybe there shouldn't, but that's how it is at the moment: QUOTE(Tenboro @ Jan 30 2011, 10:13) - Don't use misleading names. "Bob the Dragon" better be a god damn Dragon.

Fortunately for me, that's a lurker who created that acount on 13th of may 2010 and never used it again. edit: if it was the case then i am sure that more names will disappear Small sample from the first few names (took me less than 1 minute to fish those names out and search it with the member list) on the list that should not be allowed if we are taking into account user names in the forums. Arachne Coco Boku blackbird cloud Dante giant crab So i am sure that atleast 1/10 of all monsters will disappear. edit2: except for coco all of the previously names are lurkers edit3: i am too lazy to list every monster name that's also a forum member. But because i can easily find already 7 disallowed names in a short ammount of time , i can assume that atleast 1/10 of all monster will be gone This post has been edited by hyl: Mar 23 2011, 19:32

There must be exceptions, because it's a problem if a new person choose his/her username of a monster already created, especially from non-original names. (same if a user decide to change his/her username) Another situation, when there's already a name been taken, and after confirming it belongs to a lurker who's never been "active" in forums, it should be allowed as well. (Only renaming the monster, if the said person asks to change it) Edit: Ninga'd This post has been edited by cmdct: Mar 23 2011, 19:34

If your username isn't a unique creation, you shouldn't have any say. I mean, suppose I wanted to create enemies based on all the Negima characters, should you be able to deny me that because you happen to have a character based off that series? Hell no because I am creating the character based off the series, not off you as a forum member.

I assume you aren't talking about me, or you got people mixed up. I'd still like to point out that I joined on 21 February 2008. It's true that I haven't posted much, but snakef, who made the monster with my name, joined on 16 January 2011 and has zero post. I regret starting this discussion on forum names and monster names. I thought it was amusing that this guy made a monster after me. The most important thing is that it's a misspelling, which I mentioned first. The fact that it was also my username was an afterthought which I added afterwards. I wouldn't have said anything if my name was Incubus, Bahamut, or something properly spelled. I still stand by my point that 3934 Bahamute should get deactivated, because it's misspelled. Whether snakef has an account in that name elsewhere on the internet doesn't mean it should stay. If he chose to represent himself, snakef (or something similar) as a monster name would be a much more fitting name, that name is not taken.

Can someone guide me to the fountain of manufactured rage required to completely wig out over monster names? I wish to test in a laboratory.

Some of these may be usernames. Seeing these as monster names in a game makes me think someone hit their head on the keyboard a bit too hard. If your username is listed here: I was just kidding, it's a brilliant name. Really !
Lll Aqa Eight Noname Wahaha Version 11 Els Msk Arx 7 Hsin The International Cel1 Nqbtr Momomomo pthc Ig 88

Ig-88 is a bounty hunting droid from The Empire Strikes Back and appears many more times in Star Wars lore. They just missed the hyphen.

KK. By the way. I made a monster from Detroit Metal City, named Johannes Krauser, the lead singer (good tunes right?) Now someone made a monster named: Johannes Krauser Ii Yes I realize that the correct term is Johannes Krauser the second, but did I want to add two I's after my monster's name ? Nope I didn't. I'm defending my monsters honor and territory.

QUOTE(Conquest101 @ Mar 23 2011, 21:48) 75%+ of the user created monsters would have to be re-classed as human then.
There shouldn't be any forced classification based on name choice.
There are quite a few misleading name types, "Soryu Asuka Langley" and "Hinata Hyuga" are both robots, for example. It's a little annoying when you get trolled in combat, though I guess that's more of a problem for low-levels. I dunno, this just feels like an exercise in futility.

Well here's where I see a problem. Some of those names appear in other media. Dante could easily be Dante from the Devil May Cry series, and Arachne is a figure from Greek mythology who challenges Athena to a weaving contest, loses, and is turned into a spider. So should those names and others like them still be off-limits?

That was not my point, i used these names that i found in a minute as an argument that sayo made about disallowing forum user names

I am aware of this. I'm just saying that people could have made monster names without realizing the name in question is also a member name.

Lll - Either gibberish, or mathematics reference (lll algorithm) Aqa - Seems legitimate as an original creation Eight - Not unusual to name characters by a number in science fiction. Seems legitimate as an original creation Noname - Not necessarily clever, but legitimate Wahaha - Gibberish or laugh sound Version 11 - Seems legitimate as an original creation Els - No idea Msk - No idea Arx 7 - Sousuke Sagara's mech from Full Metal Panic! Should be ARX-7 Hsin - Both a chinese family name and acronym for homeland security information network. The International - Seems legitimate as an original creation Cel1 - Either gibberish, or a cellular biology reference Nqbtr - no idea, possibly gibberish Momomomo - Japanese tongue twister, could also refer to the manga Sumomomo Momomo pthc - Short for "pre teen hard core" Child porn reference, should go. Ig 88 - Bounty hunter droid from Star Wars, correct spelling would be IG-88
It has also occurred to me that some of the mystery 3 letter names might be people's initials that they have come to use as a callsign (most likely through gaming).

"Els" is a (uncommon, popular in the 1950/60s) dutch female name (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Cel1 might refer to "cell" from dbz? - Though isn't that name already used (hence the "1" there)
