QUOTE(Erranty @ Feb 13 2011, 20:23) I'm already hating the new monsters. The fact that you can't tell WHAT they are can completely ruins the balance.
I'm a Dual Wield Dagger user, when I fight 6 customs during a boss round that are all resistant to slashing and I didn't know because I don't know what class those monsters are, it just ends what little fun I was having.
I'd rather see it just be "You get to fight the monsters you created" than fight ones everyone else created.
Try to use a slashing and a piercing weapon.

Now that there's really no chance of simply remembering the resistances of all the monsters in there, could we get a sort of "fast scan" ability that only gives monster class, but is instant to use like the Gems are? It would give us a rough idea of what its resistances are likely to be (though once we can alter them, certainly not a guarantee), and let's face it - would a person need to conduct a full scan just to actually _look_ at a monster? Names aren't much to go by.

^There's a monsterlist that's updated live. Your fast scan ability is pressing control F. I doubt people would want to click twice just to see the resistances of a monster. Names add trivia to the game. I usually know which monsters are mechs and undead (undead is obvious; I watch a lot of mech anime/play mech games).

I guess Life Stream is like most game's drain life spells in that it's dark damage, not DoT? I agree that it's kind of ambiguous because of the way that the game works. Arguably even ET is a "DoT" MP drain.

Ok other question. This is how damage is reduced, right? CODE [(Original Damage Roll- Absorption)*(1- Physical/Magical Mitigation)*(1- Specific damage type Mitigation)]= Damage taken. But how about Hulk gear? CODE Physical Absorption + 11.64 Physical Mitigation + 3.32 % Magical Absorption + 10.04 Magical Mitigation + 3.55 %
Damage Type Mitigations Crushing + 2.30 Slashing + 5.88 Piercing + 4.47 Physical + 1.15 It's: (Piercing type) 1-[(Original Damage Roll- Absorption)*(1- Physical Mitigation)*( 1- Physical + Piercing Mitigation)]= Damage taken. 2-[(Original Damage Roll- Absorption)*( 1- Physical+Physical Mitigation)*(1- Piercing Mitigation)]= Damage taken. 3-[(Original Damage Roll- Absorption)*(1- Physical Mitigation)*(1- Piercing Mitigation) (1- Physical Mitigation)]= Damage taken.

ISn't there a battle script/plugin on this forum which lists the resistances on monsters?
Granted, I think that thing is from before the new monsters arrived, but it *might* cover the new stuff too.

Meh, depends on the challenge. I don't think I could win a level-100+ item world with IWBTH difficulty. On the other hand, I've been beating the first 4 arenas consistently at IWBTH difficulty. In fact, I bet most people can do that.

Know what would _really_ make Monsters interesting...
if they generated GP or Credits similar to the way you can download all the images in a gallery, but one at at time OR it will cost you xx-GP or Credits to Archive and download them at once.
So if your monster happened to be the one to deliver the final blow to a player, based on their HV Level (or something) it would generate GP/C.
Hell, then people would have a more valid reason to Train for the ability to create more monsters. House wins every time!
....unless this has been the intent the entire time and because I skipped a few pages (and a few replies) I missed that.

Download monsters? Huh? There's really not going to be another way to generate gp/c... Training monsters has been disabled.

What I'd love to see happen with the monster lab, is have an actual monster arena, where you can pit your own monsters in battles with other mobs, perhaps with small credit prizes (and probably entry fees to even out the extra credit influx) Now that would give people a reason to train up their monsters...

Somehow I don't feel there's going to be any sort credits or exp generated from monsters.
At best, there might be a ranking and monthly prize for those with the most kills similar to the current toplist system.
That's my guess at least.

The elemental crystals seem to have broken descriptions, dunno if it's just unimplemented or what.

I like this Idea. But it can't be just a kill count because our high level monsters will not be encountered by everyone so we would be at a disadvantage here.

There could be level tiers of course. IE, 1-50, 51-100, etc. We also don't know for sure how quickly level will increase or the exact encounter threshold. There's lots of ways to balance something like that. If it IS like the Toplists, the prize needs to be better though. A Noodly Appendage equivalent trophy? Yeah, not worth it. no, you don't download monsters. The monsters are generated by the system for all battles BUT if YOUR monster happens to deliver the final blow that knocks out a human player - then you (the owner) get a small amount of GP or C.
So its like they are acting on your behalf - and earning rewards for ya.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part, but...
For the majority of players who will never use the Monster Lab and thus have almost no use for crystals, maybe we could have an update where we can use the crystals we collect to improve our equipment? Like a Blacksmith?
Say, for example, we can trade 100 Crystals of Knowledge to boost the Intelligence Attribute Bonus, Magic Damage Multiplier or other things by a small amount, or 100 Crystals of Flames to increase the Fire Mitigation of our armor, or things like that.
Of course there would be some sort of cap to how much each crystal we can pump into a piece of equipment, maybe according to the type of equipment (Dagger, Longsword, Staff, etc) and prefixes (eg. can't upgrade Average gear as much as Superior gear). Also the number of crystals needed would be more expensive with each upgrade, like the Trainer.
It'll help against the super-monsters everyone will undoubtedly create when the update to use Crystals in the Monster Lab arrives. <_>
Oh, and maybe an option to give nicknames to our customized weapons and armor? >_>
