On anime styles, probally halfway between 90s and 00s would be my favorite. I like being able to tell anime ladies have noses when not viewed exactly in profile.

My avatar features a roman nose, and gives me a 90's and/or AESTHETIC vibe. It is Japanese art if I recall correctly. Had a caption of "The girl on the wall never smiles." Pouty girls do to me what sad girls do to Kraft Lawrence.
By the way, not that your past avatars are bad dragontamer, but your current one and revision is probally my favorite.
More on tech, I had to do brake pads. Due to uneven wear, a thin lining crumbling, and the odd front end of my truck, I also had to do wheel bearings. While doing all that I noticed a caliper has a cracked piston and both brake hoses are weeping- So now replacing the calipers and brake hoses, and probally the lines to the brake hoses. Oi.

Phantasy Star II meanwhile was a 1989 release in Japan and the US, 1990 everywhere else. QUOTE(Wayward_Vagabond @ Jul 21 2021, 07:49) Pouty girls do to me what sad girls do to Kraft Lawrence.
By the way, not that your past avatars are bad dragontamer, but your current one and revision is probally my favorite. Mine, too. And thanks. :) I think my last one might have been one of the ones I liked least, but I blame that in part to the colour limitations i put on myself and also it being probably the fastest pixel art pfp I ever drew, while this was probably the slowest. I also think the eyes on my last one could have used more work, but didn't know where to begin. Funnier still, this one was originally made at a smaller size, and I had to upscale it and then basically redraw the entire thing on top of the jagged/bad rescaling. It seemed to work out, though. Layers are one way that Grafx2 definitely is better than Deluxe Paint; I wish I had a kickstart 3 ROM for my Amiga so I could try Grafx2 on it as well. Things compiled with GCC require Amiga Workbench/Kickstart 3.x - and I don't want to give Cloanto any money for leaching off 25+ year old software, or purchase an eprom programmer right now. I was able to upgrade to 2.x because Commodore actually made compatible mask ROM's for it back in the day, unlike 3.x. I have to replace my caliper (and thus everything else) on the front right of my car, too. Not the wheel bearings though, I hope. Also my AC line actually blew out this time... hope I have good parts in my parts car for it. Also I hate those stupid connectors on AC hoses that try to force you to go through an authorized AC repair person. I mean, my car's already using r134a (not r12), so I don't really see why it's such a huge deal still. This post has been edited by dragontamer8740: Jul 21 2021, 16:36

You can buy on amazon or parts stores these hinged aluminum tools to wedge open the lock ring in the fitting if I'm thinking of the same kind Way easier than trying to make a sheet metal shim.

Yeah, I plan to do that. Just another thing I have to buy that shouldn't be necessary if not for stupid regulations. I just misplaced my Wacom Intuos Draw (CTL-490) stylus yet again, and couldn't find it when looking for an hour or two, so I just ordered a Huion Inspiroy H1060P drawing tablet on ebay yesterday. The difference between what I paid for the new, larger tablet (on a "sale") versus the cost of a new shitty stylus for the tiny wacom was around $10. The wacom's active area is 15.2×9.5 cm (~18 cm diagonal, or 7"); meanwhile the Huion's is 25.4×15.88 cm (~30 cm diagonal, or ~12"), which is the size of my Thinkpad's screen (which I also sometimes use for drawing, since it's a tablet convertible). Looking forward to having more working space - although I might also have to stop using my Sun SPARCstation 5 keyboard in order to make a little more room on my desk, and I honestly like this board a lot, even though it's not mechanical or anything. [ i.imgur.com] (IMG:[i.imgur.com] https://i.imgur.com/a8XJbbFg.jpg) After shipping and taxes, the Huion was just over $41; a new stylus for my shitty wacom tablet (including shipping and taxes) would have been around $32. I know I'll eventually find my stylus for the Wacom (I am 100% certain it hasn't left my place), but it's kind of a crap tablet regardless and this one's both larger and supports a few nice things like tilt. Also, the wacom's strap that's supposed to hold its stylus is broken so it's just gonna get lost again. This is the third or fourth time this has happened and I'm pretty much fed up with it.

It doesn't help that the tablets are probably made in the same factories now.

QUOTE(EsotericSatire @ Jul 21 2021, 19:27) It doesn't help that the tablets are probably made in the same factories now. That's relatively likely. I know that the Huion tablets are pretty much the same as several other brands underneath their shells. And I'm assuming that the one I bought uses EMR as well, since it doesn't need a battery in the pen to operate. Also my thinkpad x201 tablet is basically a wacom 12" graphics tablet with a 'meh-grade' Hydis AFFS screen (way better than a TN panel, but maybe not quite as good of colours as I'd like). I basically just want this for my desktop, where my tiny current entry level USB tablet has been quite awkward to use on account of the difference between a small movement on the tablet and a huge movement on the screen. Thought: I'm glad my thinkpad tablet's the version with the touch-capable screen (which I can turn on or off to rest my hand on the screen while writing with the stylus); it's handy for reading manga in portrait mode and using the touch screen to navigate. I didn't know for sure if it was the touch-capable version or the stylus-only one when I bought it on ebay years ago. I wonder if one of the old Fujitsu "penabled" machines would have had a better quality screen, though? I know very little about them compared to the thinkpad X series tablets. If they were affordable I'd also have preferred an X61 tablet, which sometimes had a high resoluton screen (I think something like 1440x1060) and more buttons on the tablet face, which would have been handy. Isn't that a weird swap? Do you have a server rack?

The chassis is a Supermicro 743. Normal ATX supplies do fit, but lack the proper mounting holes. The corsair one is just kind of wedged in there as I was unwilling to void it's warranty.
I wanted a big fancy case, and gamer stuff looks like shit to me. So I got a tower server case instead.

I had a giant case once, it annoyed the shit out of me. It was also as tall as me. Too big. You could mount quad psus in it or eight 1 U psus, if you wanted for some god forsaken reason. In other news; Amazon New World is killing high end GPUs. I was wondering if it was a framecap bug (similar to how some blizzard games killed GPUs in the past) or something nefarious like bitcoin mining in the background. A billion generations ago, nvidia Physx could blow PSUs as well, but this is also hitting high end AMD. This post has been edited by EsotericSatire: Jul 24 2021, 02:22

Haha yeah. So many people had to RMA those cards till they admitted the problem.

4U x 25", still fits on my desk fine where the old one was. It's actually narrower, but takes up the full depth when allowing for air/cable space behind it.

Yeah the New World problem was the same as the blizzard issue, framerates in menus creating astronomical FPS and drawing too much power. They put a frame limiter on and blamed AMD/Nvidia.
Media has also gone out of its way to slam the 'freedom phone' and tech tubers jumped on the bandwagon without evidence. Its not about the phone its the idea of the public becoming interested in phones that can not be spied on as easily.
An interview with the company CEO show its a customised Chinese phone because there is zero US phone production now, and that they have made their own custom fork of the OS and curated apps.
Now whether that is worth the increase or price or not, is the issue. For tech savvy users that can jailbreak their own phone and do the work loading their own OS and sideloading apps etc its probably not worthwhile but the general 99% of the public do not take such measures.
I was disappointed with one tech tuber that said people could just use SMS... when current US administration has been pressuring telcos to monitor SMS for them...

You can monitor SMS yourself with a rather simple sniffer - it is a trivia protocol sent in plain text over known (local tower) frequencies.

Leddit has quietly started screwing with people using VPN's or sitting behind NAT's. For the last two days at least people on VPN's/behind NAT's have been having to wait 10 minutes between every comment/post they make. [ old.reddit.com] https://old.reddit.com/r/WatchRedditDie/[ old.reddit.com] https://old.reddit.com/r/help/No response from Reddit. If you were still using it now's probably as good a good time as any to stop. Also ruqqus has no plain HTML/no-javascript method of using it, which is sad but not surprising. Borrowed a well-off friend's colorimeter; now my laptop screen finally doesn't show grays way too warm; it also fixed the washed-out gamma (it's calibrated at 2.2 now).
Of course, that doesn't fix it only covering around ~56% of sRGB, but baby steps. At least its screen doesn't look quite as terrible next to my PowerBook's anymore.
Speaking of the powerbook, need to compile a bunch of shit if I want displaycal to run on it, since it apparently uses python gobject introspection stuff and Debian Ports doesn't seem to package debug symbol packages for PPC (which makes me think I'm overlooking something).
I might just try X forwarding and running displaycal from an x86 machine using the IP address of the powerbook as my $DISPLAY to save myself the trouble. Or run maybe I'll just run Argyll directly.
My desktop monitor's much closer to 100% (Dell U2412M - expecting around 95%, though it uses FRC to accomplish that with a six bit panel), so I doubt I'll see quite as much change when I do that next.
