On a serious note, I've never had the pleasure of having such classes available to me (at least here). It must have been quite interesting to learn about this, even in limited depths.

The intro Fields class is one of the requirements for my degree. I took the other ones because it was either that or Communications and I hated the intro class.

Everyday ma manufacturers boasts how powerful yet energy efficient they new mobile processors are but hardly we hear on innovations on battery technology. What's the use of having enormous amount of processing power when tablets & other mobile devices could hardly last less than a day of usage?

Because battery chemistry is hideously behind. There really isn't much you can do to make batteries better without going into the exotic new technologies like using carbon nanotubes.

Storing energy is actually much harder than burning through it. Plus, the chip manufacturers should really go for efficiency now anyway rather than demand better batteries. Even if they get better, this power still isn't free.

Unfortunately for Logitech, they have relegated themselves to the position of the industry 'leader', one that no longer innovates but rather rebadges and re-labels their existing products. They have been doing this for a number of years, and as a result, the void they allowed to exist in the gaming peripherals market has allowed many newcomers to compete. Their complacency has resulted in market share going to new manufacturers with a variety of new products. Logitech once held a firm grip on the gaming peripheral market, but it is safe to say nowadays that it is an open playing field.

I just haven't heard or read anything about an upgraded or new battery, and if the processor is getting upgraded (which usually means higher power drain) and the display is higher resolution (which definitely means higher power drain) then it stands to reason.

They addressed the battery time in the Apple presentation, near the end. They specifically said it was 10 hours of performance (8 with G3) with iPad 2, and it will stay exactly this with iPad 3. So they probably improved on the batteries to compensate for the power drain.

We'll see. Frankly I don't trust what anyone says during a keynote.
