QUOTE(Wayward_Vagabond @ Jun 15 2020, 10:32) W10 is basically spyware with a kernel and gui. If anything in userland or a device driver pulled that shit, it'd be called malware and it's publisher ridiculed.
What kinds of telemetry are there that're still ublockable in Pro?

Electronics Sale on this coming 4th July. Let's see if the sellers had learned that lower prices means more sales.

Who knows? It's not open source and they are under no legal obligation to tell us.

Fair enough. I know that I'll habitually yank the Ethernet on my PC when I leave my desk for more than a couple minutes. The HDD will always spin up to do something as an idle task when I let it sit. And this is after I've halted most of the Event Trace Session tasks, like I do every boot.

You could just stop using that botnet.

Definitely a goal of mine if I ever learn to code.

Found my stock of animes videos having disappeared after finishing to watch the FF7R playthrough video. I hope it's something I did wrong, rather than some kind of Windows trojan or something that did it. Currently using PhotoRec to see what I can manage to get back (it's more about me not remembering what to get again, so going the recovery way because too lazy, and annoyed at the idea of trying to guess, rather than having lost the stuff completely) edit: urgh, I realize I delete videos after having seen them.If the disk didn't overwrite when I did that, I may find a lot lot lot to sort (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) This post has been edited by uareader: Jun 21 2020, 17:09

You don't need to know how to program going in. I learned along the way. QUOTE(blue penguin @ Jun 15 2020, 03:39) netgear is shit, just get a real router.
One workplace I was at had a Netgear destruction policy. If you brought a piece of netgear hardware in they would destroy it to protect the network. QUOTE(EvaOtaku07 @ Jun 18 2020, 13:52) What kinds of telemetry are there that're still ublockable in Pro?
I think you have to use registry edit and group policy to shut down the majority of the remaining telemetry. Windows has secret telemetry for yonks, from memory I think it was IE 5 that got caught out for having a secret internet history backup that was difficult to remove thanks to US laws. QUOTE(dragontamer8740 @ Jun 1 2020, 07:08) Wait, when did they drop PS/2 keyboard support during the installer?
Did not know that or forgot. ihaven't used a PS/2 keyboard for a while. QUOTE(loli-hujan86 @ Jun 3 2020, 15:36) I expect Nvidia's next gen products to be highly expensive
Yeah I was hoping to buy a new graphics card except prices for 2080 TI here are still at their launch premium prices. The next gen will be more expensive. I also wonder if its worth the risk of getting a founder's edition given the high fail rate of the last generation.

I bought a beemer, so next project is gonna be installing a fairly modern radio in it, instead of an old laptop to program old and picky radios. Just need to order and antenna and mount for it, already fabbed up a bracket for the control head.

I am tempted to upgrade the head unit in my car, just to get the new maps would cost $300 but a third party head unit that is good is $500?
I want something that can show temps and boost.

You don't even need to do that. I've had to evaluate Netgear hardware before and they can even suicide themselves. By suicide, I mean actually bricking itself and corrupting the firmware because it was turned off/on during an unknown state. If my workplace had a hardware destruction policy, it'd be for Huawei hardware. That stuff in Swiss cheese in comparison.

If your car is modern enough to have OBD2 in it, then you can simply install an OBD2 bluetooth device into the car's OBD2 port (typically located above the driver's foot area). This will transmit data using bluetooth to your android tablet (bluetooth) or smartphone in order to display any of the various data that your car's computer already looks at. Obviously, modern cars have a lot of instrumentation and the car's computer needs to know all these things in order to constantly adjust the engine. [ en.wikipedia.org] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics#OBD-IIThere are various free apps that run on android to see what's going on. You can customize the displays or make the displays fancier looking if you choose. Such things have been discussed and recommended on the automobile forum /o/ located on 4chan. You can look up past archived threads for screenshots of what some users have done. A favorite android program to display data is TORQUE so look up that program and maybe you'll see what other setups and settings people have used to make interesting displays of their car's data. Torque has a free and paid (excellent) version. [ torque-bhp.com] https://torque-bhp.com/[ www.mobileyouth.org] https://www.mobileyouth.org/torque-pro-wind...tails-download/ Here is an example where someone screenshot their tablet as it is mounted in their car while displaying data they chose. It'll be amusing if you put your flying camarilla catgirl onto your display. OBD2 bluetooth devices are pretty cheap. Some places sell them for $8 and they've been $13 on amazon. Some online sellers charge a premium price for gathering the bluetooth dongle and Torque software together for you.

Haha, free blinking light diagnostic tool that came with the car and doesn't require a cell phone to compromise my data goes brrrr As for showing temps and boost, my dash board has two spots for accessory standard-sized 52mm gauges and Volvo sold senders for a variety of temperatures and other measurements (although they basically just used standard VDO parts). I use one for oil pressure instead of boost though because no turbo (for the forseeable future; I think I'm a better driver when it's harder to be aggressive). Of course my ECU doesn't even show any lights on my dash even if I'm not firing on a cylinder. Happened the other day; just had to plug a cable back into my spark plug though (lol).
