This appears to be a design fail by Powercolor. Why would they design a shroud that blocks completely grille at the back? Although the cooler design does dump hot air into the case, at least some of the air should be exhausted through the grille. Or am I wrong? That this is no issue at all?

Just guessing since I can't see inside the shroud/the card with the faceplate removed, but it looks at least sub-optimal. I'd guess some air would still get out though.
Anyone know what the hell this scanlation was using to filter (or, I'm guessing, upsize) these scans? It looks like actual cancer and it's making me want to stop reading an otherwise great manga, but I'm also morbidly curious. I'm 99% sure it's not waifu2x (and the TL probably predates waifu2x's availability by a few years). I can usually tell if something's been put through waifu2x, but it stands up to a casual inspection much better than this. Basically I'm wondering if they just pushed it into illustrator/inkscape and had it "trace" the page, or if they used some other shit software to ruin the artwork.
Here's hoping they either got better raws or stopped translating and let someone else do it soon. (IMG:[i.imgur.com] https://i.imgur.com/2rrd6bB.jpg) (The manga is Gintama.)

The heatsink(s) has to have horizontal lines if you hold the card length ways in your hands.

Some earlier spin off of waifu2x alright. You can [pytorch.org] download convolutional layers and use that in your own model. My bet would be ResNet - available for download (not from pytorch mind you - pytorch didn't exist then) since middle 2015
It's not a design fail for cases (like mine) which suck air into the case through air filters (typically at the front). Due to exhaust fans, there usually is a net negative pressure inside the case, so any other openings would let unfiltered dusty air inside thus getting dust onto all the nice shiny lit up neon and LED lights. So having a lot of openings like what Powercolor has is kind of bad for those people who have garishly lit up fancy motherboard components because dust will get on them.

You really think so? I thought that this scanlation was a lot older than that. I was guessing 2007 or 2008.

Nice picture of a heat sink that does nothing. Can't see the actual board though. Good job getting both sides, too, Wikipedian. Just seeing one side of the stick really wasn't giving me an idea of what the other would look like. From [en.wikipedia.org] this article

First computationally viable image processing neural nets are from 2008 - very experimental.
In that case I guess it was much simpler: [github.com] autotrace (of course github was not popular back then, autotrace had a sourceforge too, yet it is so old that it predates even its sourceforge project)

Yeah, I wondered about autotrace-like software. IIRC that's one of two possible tracing backends for Inkscape, too. I have vague memories of trying to use it sometime between 2010 and 2012 and deciding it looked to horrible to actually share even after tweaking for ages. So I gave up on that idea.
Mercifully, "only" around 7 chapters were done like that. But I know if I keep going there's every chance I'll end up seeing an abortion like this (this is not from Gintama, of course, but it's one of the cringiest scanlation attempts I've ever seen, even including those mid-90's ones).
These pages are from "Karakuri Odette," which I remember enjoying when I read it around a decade ago. Besides the two or three chapters done in mspaint. (IMG:[i.imgur.com] https://i.imgur.com/p1NqvuS.jpg) (IMG:[i.imgur.com] https://i.imgur.com/aYQvRpK.jpg) And the age old curse of "doing it wrong the first time" means that people will likely just soldier through because redoing it the right way would be too time consuming for the payoff. I think I've only once ever gone back to fix something up and actually followed through on it to completion.

Hmmm... robots identifying with humans - discussion of what is life and what is intelligence. I know what I'm doing next weekend, bakabt here I come. Thanks.

Shoujou makes me cringe but so does shounen, what do?
I don't like moeblob shit like kyoani stuff or edgy shit like code geass. I definitely don't like nonsensical stuff from gainax or slice of life & slow life series.

NP. I think you're likely in for a treat. Chobits is also pretty good on that front, if you want more. I like how wholesome Karakuri Odette is though. Wish there were more of that kind of stuff… Chobits is one of three manga I actually have in print.
Does BakaBT actually do manga? (I am not on there since it's private, and I always used Nyaa back before it was private).
I miss Batoto. I had some nice scripts for scraping it, too.
FUCK, unixmanga also went down apparently. Just realized because I don't read too much anymore. That was probably my first manga reading site.
So now I don't have a good place to find it :\ I only have vol. 1 on my HDD.

Sankarea is pretty cool, too, in my opinion, and I'm not sure what I'd call it other than a really good read. It's about zombies but I'd not really call it horror. I mostly share your opinions on manga/anime, which means that I don't read/watch very much. Though I am very much enjoying Gintama, that's definitely an exception to the general rule for me as it's very surreal. (Also I am relatively sure that Karakuri Odette counts as shoujou… so make that two things. It's not a stereotypical fussy love story though so I tend not to see it as one)
On another note, fuck hakuneko. It's never worked well for me and now apparently it's been re-done in NodeJS for maximum uselessness and installation size.
I found a contacts manager for my moto phone, but fuckery is afoot. New contact manager is Simple Contacts Pro, and seemed to work at first. Then I noticed all my contacts were gonr, and the oe shit was back shortly after.
The problems seem to be related to a bloatware program called "Preloaded Contacts Loader". If it is disabled, the contac manager can't make contacts and throws an error. But it also seems to be thing readding the spam contacts and deleting mine. Can anybody suggest either a more traditional contact manager, or evem bettet- one thatcan put contacts on the SIM where space is provided for exactly this. I think when I disable that oem trojan, my contact manager can't save to the phone despite having proper permissions- and instead throws an error trying to save to a google account. I think this is the last moto phone I'll buy, dear fucking shit- contacts are broken, I can't answer calls, and I still can't get spotify to leavr my lockscreen alone- it replaces my bsckground with album covers.
So TLDR, I need a Contact Manager, A Call Screen?, and a Lock Screen app.
Eddy: And now the phone is app is convinced I have voicemail, and is giving me an unblockable notification to check it. I literally do not have voicemail.

Wish I was able to figure out how to run an AMD/ATI and an nvidia card simultaneously on my debian box.
As I understand it, only my old radeon card can push low enough resolutions to my Amiga monitor for old-school games (~240 lines progressive scan). But I really don't want to have to use that card for everything because it's worse than the 750 Ti I already use in pretty much every possible way (performance, power consumption, size). And swapping between the two and loading the correct drivers and X server versions is a huge pain in the ass.
Probably should pull one of my old motherboards out of storage and make a second rig in a crate for it.

The soundtrack to the PC-8801 version of "Ys" had some truly spectacular music. Especially given the time. [en.wikipedia.org] Yuzo Koshiro's a genius (the PC-8801 basically had a nicer version of the Yamaha synth later used in the Sega Mega Drive, but it's much better utilized than most Mega Drive tunes).
I really would like to get more involved in making chiptunes for these FM IC's, but honestly don't think I'm good enough yet.
"The Morning Grow" - Starts off just alright I guess, but I get goosebumps around a minute in as it peaks. Pretty rare for me to get goosebumps from a chiptune; much easier done with a classical style organ piece.
