It seems from my location in SEA, the best servers to use in a VPN service is Europe. US and Canadian servers have really slow and unstable connections. Even server in Hong Kong is infrequently overloaded.

I finally ended up adding the boolean entry "browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite" set as false in about:config in Firefox.
Took me quite some time to be annoyed enough to look for this solution.

Can I make calls and send texts on tablets running Windows 10 on ARM? No? So it's partially useless.

I just can't wait for the next generation of GPUs to come out.
I'd like to see how the latest hardwares fare against the ones from the last generation and whether or not I should wait for another 4-7 years to build a PC.

When the government tries to tax it.

The entire government really should be banned from making them.

Windows 10 did yet another reboot without warning or anything (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
...
But the good news is that in the advanced options of Windows Update, I've now found an option that disable installation of new updates for 1 month.I wonder for how long this thing has been here?

edit: I was checking another topic in this section, and this lead me to check the version of Transmission and Ubuntu I'm using under Virtual PC.
Transmission v1.93 (2005-2009) and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (April 2010).
Sure are old, but updating anything on that virtual computer is a bad idea, and could be undone if I end up having to reset the machine to an earlier state anyway.

I seem to have displaced one of my RPIs.
I can see it on my LAN, I can ping it, I can SSH into it.
I just have no idea where it physically is.

I'm amazed my Thinkpad X201 from 2010 can emulate twilight princess at a tolerable framerate.

*sigh* Windows 10 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
After another failed boot, I went to events viewer, and besides some usual errors that don't teach me much and some just as usual suspicious things, I was surprised to see lines about Windows Update downloading and installing updates.
Now the trick is that those updates should not have happened (I have checked the option that temporarily disable installation of updates), and they don't appear in Windows Update history or "remove updates" screen.
Once again, Windows 10 *big sigh*

Unrelated, but I went back from Adblock Plus 2.9.1 to 2.8.2, and it seems my filter list (after reloading a backup) is now surviving better and Firefox is booting faster (and I got rid of that abnormally big profile\browser-extension-data\{d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}\storage.js file while being at it, may be why it's faster now).
Will see if it continue like this, but I think I made the right choice.

edit to avoid double-posting (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) : Finally took one significant step toward a future reinstallation of Windows XP, downloading one of those "Windows XP SP4" unofficial things.I hope I didn't do it from the wrong website, that's the risk (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

AV1 reached 1.0 milestone. But software encoder is still "un-optimized". Look forward to hearing news on hardware support in the near future.
