[ jessejones.com] Office Depot insider speaks out about unnecessary computer fixesQUOTE “Office Depot in no way condones any of the conduct that is alleged in this report,” company spokeswoman Karen Denning said Tuesday in a written statement after Jesse’s investigation aired. “We intend to fully review the assertions and take appropriate action.” NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK!!! YOU'RE SCAMMERS, FOR GOD SAKE!!! FUCK YOU! THAT'S JUST BS TALK AND HYPOCRISY FROM A COMPANY WITH LITTLE TO NO ETHICS! MAKE A PUBLIC APOLOGY INSTEAD OF DOING DAMAGE CONTROL. I hate scammers like sin

After years of using a cheap D-Link router (which died of old age), I bought a cheap NETGEAR. That was a year and half ago. Half a year ago that NETGEAR broke. It was cheap, so i didn't care and bought a slightly better one, also NETGEAR. The slightly better one is starting to break (seriously, I need to reset that shit to factory defaults every week).
Fuck, I can't be changing routers every half year. After a lot of searching I bought the good ol' Linksys WRT54 (that's the model they released the first openWRT on). I do not care that it can only do 54Mbps on the wireless. What I wanna see is one of those things breaking on me.

So the lesson here is...don't buy NETGEAR.

Depends. Had an old Netgear WNR2000v1 (Atheros AR9103-AL1A chipset, made in Korea) which ran fine for almost 6 years before I shelved it when moving to a new place. It still works fine, and should be fine for another 6 years, if I ever decide to reconnect it. Atheros chipsets are generally robust. Much better than Broadcom, which are also used in certain versions. Heard good things about Ralink as well. Modems, however, we've burned through 3. Each time with the boards suffering from heat fatigue as the old place had no A/C and temperatures frequently go above 100F during the summer. Yes, the router was used in these same conditions as well, running 24/7. [ wikidevi.com] Wikidevi is a good place to find device info for adapters and routers before buying as most manufacturers do not state what chipsets are used in their products. Damn, UT2004 looks horrible without anti-aliasing. Apparently there's a bug in Windows 10 that prevents me from the utilizing the AMD mobile GPU and so I am locked with this shitty graphic chipset by Intel. Worse, I can't update the AMD drivers otherwise the laptop will be boot into a blank screen indefinitely.

My recent experiments to re-create the "invincible 0-byte Windows file", that I have seen several times before and deleted, has ended in failure. Though, it would be the perfect mind game to play on my underclassmen as I train them for system hardening. Description of the problem from another user [ www.sevenforums.com] here. TweakTown again blocking readers who has ad-blocking extensions enabled in their browsers. But no matter. Until developers figured out a workaround, I'll just use the mobile browser with built-in ad-blocker. I still win!

You can just use the adblocker to block the blue screen.

OnlyOffice still can't open Strict Office Open XML format. And it looks that the developers won't do a thing about it. I hope MS Office 365 & Softmaker runs you out of business eventually, Ascensio System SIA.

I don't understand why anyone would want to buy the new macbook "pro". Yet it sells. I'm not in touch anymore (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

I love going into auth.log and Apache access.log to watch the Chinese try to prod and poke my machine for PHP or Wordpress vulnerabilities only to find that my server doesn't have either. Good luck trying to bruteforce that root account though. You won't get far with only 3 tries per minute and it's not on any wordlist, even the Mart list.

Just force a notty (in sshd_config), it will look as the server is accepting passwords but will *always* tell it is invalid. Currently CODE Last login: Tue Nov 8 02:43:48 UTC 2016 on pts/0 Last failed login: Tue Dec 6 03:25:15 UTC 2016 from 116.31.116.9 on ssh:notty There were 35755 failed login attempts since the last successful login. And yes, 116.31.116.9 is chinese (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (Works better with plans where the inbound bandwidth is unlimited. Since you do not want to pay a penny for the bandwidth they use)
