QUOTE(Pillowgirl @ Jun 16 2016, 21:36) Most patronizing post this month. If i could punch you through my screen i would throw a molotov cocktail instead.
This has nothing to do with patronizing, but more with making aware of the implications your actions may have for others. Not considering the impact prostitution has on society is simply naive. There are enough longitudinal studies on the topic that I do not have to convince you myself, since you can educate yourself simply by looking into it on APA or similar publication sites. As a side point: Nobody is entitled to sex.

QUOTE(blue penguin @ Jun 16 2016, 12:15) That depnds on your luck. And arguing that our fine wizard (uareader) would be doing something wrong by paying for sex just because you were luckier in life and never needed it is on the level with bigotry.
Some people are unlucky, or nature just did not give them the correct set of attributes (and by that i'm including the capability of social thinking). You just did a SJW against a group of people that you were sure will not hit you back. Shame on you.
/rant
Apologies for the rant, but i cannot stand SJWs (who can?)
I don't think its a social justice warrior thing, since it is a very real problem. As I already wrote in my other comment, sex is not something you are entitled to. And I am not trying to make anyone feel guilty for what they do with their lives, since I very much agree that everyone has the right to do with his/her body what he/she wants (which includes prostituting it). BUT: It is also important to know that what you do may have detrimental effects on others. It is always good to have as much information on a topic before you decide what to do right? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) maybe my first comment came of a little strong for which I apologize. It is probably the result of working with sex workers in a clinical setting for several years of my life and having to diagnose many with PTSD that I 'see red' when it comes to the topic.

First of all, i don't think you know the gravity of PTSD, some whore who gets beat on from time to time doesn't have it.
Second, prostitution is essential for a society to continue working. Saying that it is nefarious and detrimental because it is dirty/immoral/illegal is a dipshit argument.

Are you reading what you are writing? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It is very demeaning, but ok. I do not know what your field of expertise is to make those claims, but I have worked as psychiatrist for several years before going back into research, so my talk is not as empty as you think. As for your other points, 'prostitution is essential' is very arguable. Unless you can provide reasonable proof, we can just write this off as we don't know it, but countries like Sweden are good examples that show a possible future. Your third point confuses me, since I have not mentioned anything of that sort. I however acknowledge that this forum might not be a good place to discuss matters of this gravity as you are missing the educative background for a reasonably founded argumentation. Have a good weekend! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This post has been edited by locococococo: Jun 17 2016, 23:17

Sweden doesn't have a future. Your opinion is now permanently invalid. This post has been edited by Pillowgirl: Jun 19 2016, 07:51

Want to elaborate why you think that may be the case? I am honestly curious as Sweden has a lot of well-designed social policies with a financially stable foundation, so I don't really see where the 'no future' aspect comes into play. Edit: If you want to discuss proper, don't try to argue ad hominem. This post has been edited by locococococo: Jun 20 2016, 14:09

What does it take for VP9 to triumph against HEVC in gaining wide industry support?

Looks like it's cost. I just found out about the Open Media Alliance. HEVC's "complicated" licensing fees had resulted in various tech companies to band together to create an alternative royalty-free next-gen video format.

I recently tried a newer version of linux and... HORROR!IT LOOKS LIKE WINDOWS 8 IN WORST!!!!! AND THERE ISN'T A COMMAND LINE!!! AND...and...I'd better stop for the sake of the ears of those with lots of imagination. ... Maybe I should try to find sites with screenshots of the GUI before getting crap. At least this was only for a live usb key.It would have been a suicide incentive if it was a real installed system (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) edit: oh yeah, of course, I crashed plenty of times while trying to run this stuff, Linux still hate me as much as it makes me hate it (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) This post has been edited by uareader: Jun 24 2016, 07:06

QUOTE In the last few months, we made the HERE apps compatible with Windows 10 by using a workaround that will no longer be effective after June 30, 2016. To continue offering the HERE apps for Windows 10 would require us to redevelop the apps from the ground up, a scenario that led to the business decision to remove our apps from the Windows 10 store. In short, you guys are either lazy or an incompetent bunch or mostly likely, both.

QUOTE(hujan86 @ Jun 16 2016, 13:21) It's the year 2016! GPU manufacturers ought to add a dedicated decoder for 10-bit video formats in their consumer products by now!
What I meant was videos encoded in 10-bit color depth.

So it's gonna take Pokemon Go to finally crush Windows Phone/Mobile's market share to oblivion (zero percent). And they said my reason for ditching the platform was stupid.

I suck at playing around with GUI part of an application I make. In a better world, I would have a job, and somebody else would take care exclusively of that stuff.

MS still wants to try to get Pokemon Go & Snapchat over to Windows Mobile. Highly doubt that they'll pull it off. Not gonna happen. How are they supposed to change the minds of people who right from the start doesn't believe in the platforms' viability?

I just learned from where the term DOS originally came from: QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System). Therefore no matter how much marketing you put in it DOS is not a "Disk Operating System" but a "Dirty Operating System that is not even Quick".
