Could an iCalendar file (.ics) downloaded as an attachment from a spam email (something about claiming a US$900,000 worth of ATM VISA card) be malicious?

Whether I should stick with my shitty AMD CPU or suck it up and blow 500 bucks on a new motherboard and Intel CPU.

Yes! The partial HW decoding introduced in v1.2 of VLC for WP did the trick! All HD videos now play smoothly on my phone! This could be the Xbox Video replacement I've been looking for.

LOL, it was not Arch's fault at all. The fan of the power supply was broken and the machine was working with reduced power for the last couple of months. Only noticed it when I needed to power it up with the components outside of the case.

I am thinking of disabling Windows Media Player and use MPC-HC exclusively. Previously WMP is for playing audio files while MPC-HC is reserved for video playback.

I'd suggest Foobar for audio files and MPC-HC for videos. I never used one program to run both music and movies, for me it's weird xD

Foobar for audio and Zoomplayer for video.

Most enthusiasts like MPC but while i once used it i find Zoomplayer to be much more advanced and fine grained, it's also less CPU hungry and smoother.

As a secondary video player i'd recommend KMPlayer or Potplayer as it has evolved now, it's a Korean player but also in English and it has some really nifty features that puts it above MPC as well.

VLC is a last resort or something a casual or a pleb would use when he doesn't know anything about codecs.

Codec packs are a no-no btw, always install them manually and separately and if you can find some custom ones with better performance use those.

PS : hujan, don't delete WMP from your PC, sometimes games/codecs/software needs WMP or they won't run or you get a black screen.

I have a nasty feeling about war. We're getting a little too good at it, so the sufficiently nasty / self-serving aren't always weeded out. War doesn't necessarily favor the altruistic / kind.

Ah, VLC. It's been years. Last time I used it there's evident stutter in every video it played, HD and non-HD resolutions alike, with and without GPU acceleration. This led to me to install SPlayer and then eventually MPC-HC. Ironically VLC is my current fav video player on my phone.

I'll be damned. You win, WMP.
