QUOTE(hujan86 @ Feb 28 2014, 04:13) I should've phrase it better. I meant SP2 for Win7.
I reckon they want to stir public attention toward windows 8 and to move away from the old "service pack" update model. I personally still haven't found any reason to use Win 8 on my non-touch machines... Might as well wait until Win 9 (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) This post has been edited by holy_demon: Feb 28 2014, 01:12

I wonder if it's possible to use a pen/stylus with my 'droid (Galaxy S4)? I have this handy noteblock app, but since you write with your finger, it's kind of inconvenient when I use it for practicing kanji...
EDIT: And I know, I know, I may as well just write on paper... but hey, chaps, I'm fucking HIP!

I hardly miss Acer as the build quality of their hardware is bullshit.

Well Acer and HP did achieve a price to quality ratio that dominated during the 90s. These days though if you are buying through consumer retail you can build a far better quality PC your self for the same price. Argh 2749 AUD for HP's i7 4770 + Nvidia 640 card 'premium' computer I can build the same thing for $2000 except all will premium parts and a monitor and a SSD and a 3 year warranty min on everything. Damn HP sucks balls these days lol. Oh I checked the difference between the HP $2000 model and 2750 model is that they throw in a shitty SSD and slightly larger hard drive. I also wouldn't touch a HP laptop anymore, their higher end non-alienware laptops overheat like crazy and alienware costs too much.

The BSOD just appeared while I was browsing the web. I wonder if setting the max. cache size of Palemoon to 1GB & hibernating the computer instead of using Shut Down in long term is a bad idea?

Install WhoCrashed, it will read your crash log and tell you more accurately.
But irql_not_less_or_equal usually means drivers conflict or memory corruption.

QUOTE On Mon 3/3/2014 12:18:45 PM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\030314-30716-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: ntfs.sys (Ntfs+0xACD36) Bugcheck code: 0xA (0x4800, 0x2, 0x0, 0xFFFFFFFF832A9E1E) Error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ntfs.sys product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: NT File System Driver Bug check description: This indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above. This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time. Good to know it's not hardware related.

Printer ink cartridges are becoming a more of a rip off at an exponential rate. HP's solution is to release the equivalent of mobile data plans for ink...
$9.99 US for 150-300 pages per month, charged at $1 per extra 12-25 pages there after.
I imagine they looked at mobile data plans, saw that they were a rip off and decided to cash in whilst pretending to save people money.

Well Dell has better customer service in Aussie, at least according to the peeps on Whirlpool. I often find myself buying Asus laptop. cos they seem to offer the best specs per cost, and their maintenance service isn't bad. MSI and Gigabyte have good reps for build quality, though their product like to hang around the 2k price range. Atm, I'm looking at Sony for my next purchase, since their laptops seem to handle heat from mid-range GPU (GT650M, 750M+).

I've only got a Clevo laptop with a 7970m.
If you are choosing between a 650m and a 750m and are worried about heat, the 750m is apparently cooler.

Caviar Black is the "performance" drive and it has 5 year warranty compared to Caviar Blue having only 2 year warranty. Some sort of correlation with the lifespan but really depends mostly on luck.

I was expecting the Black to die first with all fast spinning & extra bit of heat whereas Blue was marketed as HDD with "solid performance & reliability". Then again, I'm wrong more than 50% of the time.

I'm having serious routing issues, can't even load google drive or youtube pages today.
It's never happened to me before, i wonder if something happened to a backbone.

WD even said its drives with 1 year warranty had solid performance and reliability. The MTBF probability curves area also skewed to the left (hope I got that right). After a few years the fail rate on their high capacity plater hard drives goes through the roof. The warranty is probably the best indicator but doesn't always mean that much.
