Did you notice the 2 google update services running?
Maybe the certificate you needed to disable auto-update, not sure if still applies.
Or the fact that it downloads 120mb+ silently in the background when there is a new version availaible without fucking telling you even if you have no Chrome open.
The services also make continuous checks for new versions even though you thought you disabled it.

It's basically a trojan.

That's... the point of a service/daemon. Doing stuff in the background automatically so you don't have to. Really nothing shady about that.
What is kinda shady, and I'll give you that, is that Chrome also registers a task to re-enable said service should the user try to disable it
I don't particularly like it either, but I'm fine with the updater service so eh

(then iceweasel sounds much more welcoming)

iceweasel (now called [www.gnu.org] icecat) is a pretty good choice. Many firefox bundles still send analytics to google even that mozilla and google are not in love anymore.

You know, after so many months of doing all of it manually in Unity, this 2D mode is the stuff of dreams!

I guess this is tech (nerd, geek, whatever) related:

My mom discovered Star Wars a couple of days ago and is now watching all the episodes. She had become a great fan of George Lucas's universe.

She's almost 60.

I still remember when my mom said she would never play a video game in her life...
...She's playing Candy crash these days, I've heard she's quite good at it too.

While I do agree, I also find it particularly fun to break the rules and get the extensions I had for chrome to work with Opera 16. Also, on a side note, Opera Presto is installed separately from Opera Blink, meaning that you may have both on your computer. They share the same data, so every time I find my cookies for sadpanda don't work, I can just boot up Opera 12 and use dragonfly to fix the problem. Still, I am a bit sad to see Opera lose its charm...

The thing about Iron is all that shit is removed and the developer tools too, since those are usually useless to casual users and detrimental to performance.

The upload is 30mbit whilst the download is 10mbit? Thats a bit weird, usually its the other way around.

At work with no one else on the network (rare) I did a speed test and pulled 4 gigabit. Though you would never get that speed ever. Downloading a 3 gigabit file in a few minutes is epic, though they killed my unmonitored connection to the backbone :*(. I didn't leech that much but I had one person at work that constantly downloaded bluray rips.

Most ATMs run on MS windows (and most of those on MS windows XP these days). There are only 3 ATM companies in the world: the American Diebold and NCR both run their machines as cheap PCs inside the blinded coffins. These PCs are connected to a normal screen and a couple of extra devices which are controlled by one big application running inside the MS windows OS. The 3rd company is the German Wincor Nixdorf, they produce "clone" ATMs that run exactly like Diebold's and NCR's ATMS these again run on MS windows; and they produce one or two ATM variants running on Linux.

Beautiful.
Apparently, to create a Windows 8 recovery disk you need a working Windows 8 copy.
Even though the fact that you need a recovery disk in the first place should be a clue enough that you don't have a working Windows 8 copy
I'm assuming it's all part of the glorious Microsoft Catch-22 Projectâ„¢.
