I posted this on Artists' section but it also fits here.

Need opinions on Blender: [www.blender.org] http://www.blender.org/

It's good, Sintel was good.

The Dutch are good, weed is good.

Why do people not dust their towers out?

I do it semi-regularly. Make another backup, power it down, unplug everything, carry it outside, plug in the [www.metrovacworld.com] blower and
FOOOOOOOOOOOM
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
Looks like a smoke grenade went off.

I keep the PSU on the floor, the cables snaking out of the case because it's entirely open after i took off all the plating it had so it now looks like a steel frame skeleton.
It's probably not grounded either.

Disconnected floppy and all CD drives with dangling wires.

Stack of hard drives with dust on them.

Yea, i'm a pro at pc's.

I keep my tower on 24/7, it's been like this for about 8 years and it hasn't failed me yet.
Supposedly the most damage you can do to your PC is to turn it on, the cold boot startup charge will wear out the electronics more rapidly then keeping it powered on constantly.

Im cool with pc's on 24/7 because it causes no damage as long as its not overheating but when people wonder why their 7 year old dell sounds like a 747 and you open it up to find it looking like the tomb of a mummy (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I don't think I've had a computer with a floppy drive for like six years.

Make your hdd as cold as possible and hope it works. There's a great program that has saved a ton of drives for me but it cost 65$ for a license which i doubt you want to pay

Put your HDD into a freezer for a couple of hours, then plug it in your PC. Don't forget to wipe it dry before pluggin' to prevent short circuit. It should work for some limited time.

Use another disk to boot the machine, there are many OSes that can boot from an USB disk. Later you plug the dead (and semi-frozen (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ) disk and try mounting manually.

I think my machine has a major bug in it. Literally I think I saw a cockroach crawl inside now its rattling around and making a surprisingly loud noise.

Maybe I should play a game and get the heat up in the case. I am worried it will jam one of the critical fans.
