QUOTE(GanGun @ Apr 6 2013, 23:15) Why is it that the C Standard (C99+) still uses the insecure scanf() (besides history/comparability)? Done it myself a couple of time though I did waste a HD5850 one time because I took of the "Chip cooler" which overheated them about a year later with my modified bigass old school GPU cooler.
It's basically like changing a CPU cooler but you have to be a bit more careful with the cooling parts.
Also would recommend buying an actual water cooling system since Corsairs Coolers isn't exactly a "WOW! MY HAND FROZE FROM THESE TEMPS!".
the h50 is far quieter then the powercolor stock cooler. That's why i want to switch to it because i hate how noisy the stock cooler is.

After reinstalling my OSes (trisquel + SL this time) I decided to try the tiling window manager Tiap mentioned (somewhere in this forum), xmonad. Now, after a week using it, I feel like I cannot live wihout xmonad anymore.

QUOTE(Pillowgirl @ Apr 12 2013, 10:48) After looking up Xmonad WM i ended up looking at Dvorak keyboards and i realized i have a key named turbo and i don't know what the fuck it does (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif). A 1-Click Overclock Switch, perhaps? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I've found an interesting Linux distro lately called [ www.cinnarch.com] Cinnarch (ArchLinux with Cinnamon desktop). I've decided to try it. First - why the fuck image size is 799 Mb? It's too big for CD-R and it's pathethic for DVD-R. Maybe it's intended for USB? Yeah, maybe. But it crashes on USB Live sessions even in failsafe mode. Maybe it'll be working properly if I install it on HDD? Yeah, maybe. But after the Live USB experience I have no intention whatsoever to install it at all. And I know it's in Beta stage atm, but for God's sake, do you even test your shit, guys? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) This post has been edited by Evil Scorpio: Apr 12 2013, 12:03

Man, you got to love Harvard's "awesome" check50 application... ...Which can only take in THEIR input function from their own made library.. While the solution I've done does not pose as many risks of memory leaks like theirs (sscanf() *shivers*).

Dear all laptop vendors, boutiques, and manufacturers of barebone kits:
Why do none of you make a laptop I want? I could easily mix and match various makes and models of the same class, and would easily get what I want while being totally reasonable in terms of form factor, expense, and battery life.

What is up with the Turks? Hacking here, hacking there. Now Gigabyte has become their latest victim. Go hack someplace else like, I dunno - their own government's website.

The H@H problems seems to come in waves. We had 2 months without anyone seeking help on port forwarding but today we got 3 new threads on H@H.
<insert here random speculative blame on ISPs, internet cables and/or router manufacturers>.

I guess it's time to look around for new a SSD/HHD. Whatever is recommended by GanGun, I hope they won't fail me like Patriot Memory did. For at least another decade.

I doubt HDDs or SSDs will work for a decade nowadays. The bigger they get - the shorter they live.
