You could just set the Windows Update to restart whenever you want (although it will still nag to you about restarting).

I wait until I'm done with my stuff before I restart. It's just that having to reboot for some kind of 100KB quickfix was totally expected.

Or, y'know, turn Windows Update off.

Reminds me I should start killing off all of them unnecessary services. Those prebuilt computers come with a crapload of them.

I can live with Windows Update, though. It actually fixes shit even though it usually spawns more shit to be fixed later in the process.

"Smart" detection routines in antivirus software sure are a great idea. Even official trial version executables get branded as motherfucking malware. And I don't mean the usual suspicious cloud/bad rep threats. Heuristic virus, no less. Amazing.

I should just start using a slightly less paranoid antivirus software. If I could get rid of the current one without formatting my shit, that is. Been using older releases of AGS so far for a few games, just like with KAG, but that crude workaround obviously stops working at some point because the game engines get updated once in a while.

If the loud noise reminds you of a plane or vacuum cleaner, check CPU usage and kill frozen processes. Then check temperature and fan speed.

If it's close to a big clank-clank, that sounds more like serious mechanical damage.
