Just installed Vim. I've had enough of all this manual enforcement of Shift-JIS required in NP++ whenever I need it.

Might take a while to readapt to this brand new old world but I'm not too displeased with what I see so far.

You should also try Sublime Text 2.

XML looks interesting, looks like one could make an online database using XML documents + (HTML,CSS,JavaScript) Interface o-o; might try doing something offline just for the heck of it.

Or, y'know, turn Windows Update off.

Finally passed the GRC ShieldsUp! test. It turned out that ICMP was enabled by default for Internet mode and the setting was buried deep in my router's configuration. So it was not Windows Firewall's fault after all.
