I've mentioned before my thoughts on Apple, but to summarize: they've done some interesting stuff that I respect, but they're gigantic douche bags.
As for Windows, I don't like the direction they're going with the GUI. They're making it too fussy. I already don't like using Office '07, making the whole OS the same is gonna drive me nuts. Win7's ridiculous UAC already drives me up walls.

I guess I got used to it after I beta tested both Vista and 7 and have been using Vista since release. The UAC isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, and it's not like it's impossible to disable. My only gripe with the Win7 based GUIs is the lack of a proper dropdown File/Edit/View/et al menu, but it's easy to get used to them being gone.
I'd say that I like each of the major three OS types equally, but that's only because I can see the merits moreso than the faults, because it takes a lot of digging to get to the faults, you almost have to look for them unless you're being unfairly nitpicky.

Vista's not too bad. It does some dumb shit from time to time, but it usually behaves once you tell it who's boss. Win7 has some nice new features and improvements that I like, but I don't like the changes to some of the old stuff. It can also get a little cluttered and fussy. And disabling the UAC is fine for people who know what they're doing, but I can't do that for every computer I use.

That's fair, I suppose.
But I wouldn't completely jump ship because of something like that.

Radeon HD5770 or Radeon HD6850? Gigabyte or XFX? Asus or Sapphire? Decisions, decisions, decisions... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

I do not like Nvidia as much as I do not like integrated audio.

My level of hatred for Nvidia is more or less equal to my level of hatred for integrated audio. Not "hating Nvidia for the audio". This post has been edited by hujan86: Apr 17 2011, 16:25

Ah, my misunderstanding.
However, it still doesn't make sense to me to hate brands. It's usually for flippant or insubstantial reasons.

I hate ATI, because they didn't implement in their Mac drivers checking for how many constant registers are actually used and not just declared by vertex shaders in their cards, which results in card switching to software rendering fallback for every shader for which the count of declared const registers is at or above 256, and so I have to implement my own checking and hack-change various shaders if the games I port are supposed to work on ATI Radeon hardware on Macs. Which I would have to otherwise, because Nvidia and Intel got it right.

My reasons might be ridiculous, but that won't stop me. Others are doing the same for ATi-AMD.

What the hell, Search can't find the file, even though I'm looking right at it. Stupid Vista.

A lot of programs hate Google Desktop on install/update, but I think I used that desktop widget/toolbar shit for, like, two days and then it got old and stupid. Indexing is weird, I think. This post has been edited by radixius: Apr 19 2011, 05:28

Vista's indexing is weird, too. My index is complete and I'm searching in an indexed location, but Vista can't find the file. I'm even staring right at it. Nobody seems to know why it does this, I've even rebuilt my index, but that didn't help at all. Anyway, I downloaded and installed GD, didn't like it, and now its gone.

I just meant indexing in general. It seems a good idea at low capacity drive sizes, but once you blow past 500 gigs it starts to get wonky and forgetful. I don't know if most indexing tables, at least free ones, can stay stable with that much data.

Did you type the full name of the file in the search bar?
