Many people sit and watch while their computer is busy performing a long task. There should be some kind of "I don't require your presence, my master" message. Or something in the lines of "I am busy and there is nothing you can do right now. Sit there and keep watching like an idiot if you want to because it amuses me."

I miss when Google was just an awesome search engine and not Skynet.

I miss the good ol' days when hitting a problem with a hammer, until it wasn't a problem anymore, was the best solution.

QUOTE(Marvin666 @ Aug 16 2012, 23:31) It takes 15 minutes at most to partition a drive if you already have a g-parteted live cd. If you don't, you can do other things while the image downloads, and burning would only add 5 minutes if that.
The reformating and installing OS isn't the real problem. The problem is installing all the programs and setting them up properly... it takes days when I don't have an existing image for all that shit. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

What happened to the good old days when you just plugged a printer in the USB port and Windows would automatically install the drivers?

The same thing that happened to the good old days when you had to shut your computer down before plugging your printer into the printer port.

Seven fared better than Vista in terms of drivers. I remembered the time when Vista couldn't recognize any USB thumb drives plugged into the PC. Seven's only problem is it can recognize some regular inkjet printers, but not MFP (Multifunction Printers) as as a printer.

It goes faster on linux distros with repositories. Apt-get and synaptic do the grunt work for you, but it's still quite the nuisance.

QUOTE ReFS is highly resistant to corruptions and storage failures, is optimized for storing large files and data. If this statement is to be believed, then MS should be make ReFS support as part of SP2 for Win7.

Dear [insert laptop manufacturer], Y U NO MAKE A LAPTOP THAT MAKES ME COMPLETELY HAPPY~ Lenovo has it close with the T430s. Put in an IPS screen, bump up the graphics JUST A LITTLE (go consumer card if you must), and I'd be a happy clam... BUT NOOOOOO~ This post has been edited by Spectre: Aug 21 2012, 07:26

I've been wanting to learn to type with ten fingers instead of the two I use now, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort considering I can already do around 100 WPM Meh

It's not chicken pecking, it's not like I look at the keyboard. It's touch typing... with two fingers.

No, the mid to upper mid cards I'd like to see are not, especially when the money is not necessarily a concern for me.* Even then the cards Dell, Lenovo and the like aren't actually expensive, they just make them expensive options. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) *While money is not necessarily a concern, I'm not looking for a gaming or desktop replacement laptop either, so they're out of the running.

QUOTE Here is one decision we don't understand being a premium offering - Instead of a no-frills Intel PHY used by most of the competition, ECS has opted for a Realtek 8111E gigabit implementation (a problematic, latency plagued controller). Holy, my mobo's brand is ECS and it has that chipset. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
