The CacheViewer+TabMix combination is a decent alternative to FDM/DTM.

Doesn't my idiot cousin realize that when a site asks you to download and install movieplayer.exe, etc that it's a virus?

The number of sites that still store passwords in plain text is distressing

You know it when they keep telling their users they got hacked. Even primitive databases offer decent password encryption using unique keys now.

Doesn't prevent them from getting hacked at some point, but at least it prevents user->password tables from being leaked all over the tubes.

XnView. I mostly use it for batch-processing because I haven't found anything that does it faster yet. 5000 pictures resized and resampled in a couple minutes.

The amount of crap that comes with pre-built computers is staggering.
Wasted 45 minutes to remove all the crap installed by HP, Facebook, Bling and whatever.

Why not do a format of the drive and reinstall? The first thing I do when I get a computer is wipe it with a g-parted live cd.

I usually spend an entire day uninstalling their crap, installing my crap, updating crap, and making recovery disks and backups and crap.

Would if I could, but it's not my computer.
I'm just prepping it for a friend (updating drivers, installing a decent browser, video player, antivirus, etc etc).

i do find some of the stuff that comes with laptop good though. Like their battery management and vibration sensor stuff. That's about it, but yes... it does take a while.

decrapifier works well at least.
