Still on firefox 3.6.17 and I see no reason to update. I use seamonkey for flash stuff since it's memory leak isn't as bad.

I haven't heard about MS' Win7 optimization patch for AMD Bulldozer CPU for a long time. Did I miss anything or did MS just give up?

QUOTE(hujan86 @ Jul 13 2012, 22:06) I guess you are now considering buying a new case now? Old models like Aerocool AeroEngine should be very, very cheap nowadays.
I'd probably get the smallest micro-ATX case if I were to do it, and would get something not fugly. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) or, I deal with it with my current case, take the grinder to it, make something work. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Buying a new case easier, but that is much more interesting. What crazily interesting idea can Spectre come up with in modding his case?

Caesar 3 now works fine on Windows 7. It didn't last time I tried. Same settings.
Odd.

Word 2013 is going to support pdf editing... I think Adobe is going to kiss one of their products goodbye...

Actually, I'm gonna do nothing. Turns out that this card is known to get this hot, regardless of case size. Checked with a buddy with a Antec 300 and his gets about that hot, maybe 5c cooler under load, and I'd be willing to attribute that to ambient temperature differences.
As for what I WOULD DO... The bottom of my case already has some meshed holes on the bottom for general circulation. I'd probably end up cutting out the bottom of my case and fitting a pair of 120x120x12mm fans. I'd like to try 140x140x20mm but I'm not sure if I have the appropriate clearance for that height within the case.

And so in the end, Nvidia's vanilla cooler isn't up to the task. This post has been edited by hujan86: Jul 19 2012, 16:21

CT buffer limit feels a bit strict when your mental output has -v on. Had to use a thesaurus to shorten the text.

More like slightly dumbing down a a 580 to become the 570 did not translate to any less heat generation as I thought it should (but wouldn't anyways). Uses slightly less power which I'm thankful for however. Again, the small confines of my case as well as slightly higher ambient temperatures does not help the matter, but I'll just have to learn not to cringe as much whenever I see my temps under load. How is your fan speed on full load? I've got the old 9800GT in my box and it overheats because the fan is stupid and doesn't spin fast enough. I have to manually set fan speed with 3P software when I'm playing a graphics-intensive game.

Around 55%. Apparently it jumps to 65-70% at 90c and up to 95% at 95c. Incidentally, 55%-60% is about what I consider bearable under normal background noise. Anything higher sounds like a jet engine.

Christ, my card shuts down and forces a hard reboot once it goes past 90c.

Can your gpu's temp really reach 95c? The PCB should've start melting.

Nice try. GTX 570 maximum operating temperature is listed as upper 90s, I think 97-98c. Even then the solder (let alone the PCB) have a considerably higher melting point than that, like say... double that for the solder. I'd take an educated guess that the PCB resin is at least just as high. edit: now, my card hasn't gotten that high; mine gets to around 86c under the load I put it on.
