Personally, I feel there should be an official discussion thread started by Tenboro on this, if he feels a re-balance is needed (it is his game after all). I in no way have any power nor have the right to tell others what to do or not to do. Personally, I really hope there is a chance though. There are key goals per group that need to be outlined:
1. Tenboro most likely wants people on HV needing to interact with the site, adding some volunteer maintenance for perks as Thanos008 said. This is highlighted with things such as the top uploaders and so on. H@H and earning hath does this. Reducing credits in selling and all makes it so to earn more, you need to help the site. Which is fair, I mean this doesn't cost us anything to play if we don't want. The H@H is especially a good technique.
2. Players want to be amazingly awesome in HV. They want progression at all levels, make training and credits worth something, and have power. They want equipment, drops, credits, and so on. But this has to be balanced so that it is fair. And most importantly, fun!
So changes must be made to help all parties. They must make the game fun, because that ultimately is what keeps players in. It must not allow players to never need to interact with the site, because then the site will deteriorate. However, it must not be too rough and require players to spend or people won't want to play, or have fun.
There were a lot of unique changes in the last update that made things interesting. From having infusions cause status effects on mobs, to fixing various attributes of equipment to work, it really helped battle. But certain things are now a pain, in my opinion. Right now selling equipment to not have 1000 pieces to allow drops while earning a fraction of the amount from the last update really is bothersome.
It's all about balance between legitimate goals, and having fun. Mix it well, and you get people having fun while helping the site big time.

If I'm Tenboro, you know what I say? Go back and read every previous update thread. They've ALL been doom and gloom yet things have worked out. Even credit nerfings have worked out. Of course, I'm not sure it ever works out for top level people after this update. We took it too damned hard because things weren't even easy in the days of free credits.

QUOTE(Boggyb @ Oct 28 2010, 17:28) Hell fucking no. Hell fucking no. Something tells me you dislike this idea, but your brilliant explanation still leaves me wondering why... It can't be because you are not on any monthly toplist, right? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE(Boggyb @ Oct 28 2010, 19:19) Don't fill posts in these threads with long worthless crap.
Also, have Scrolls of Absorption and Scrolls of Life been removed from the loot table? Dunno post-patch, pre-patch, based on my drops, they, together with the Scroll of Shadows were uber rare, more than Mana Elixirs, weirdly more rare than scrolls of Avatar and the Gods - approximately ~1/3 of special items rarity. I assume that was (is...) a bug? QUOTE(bloodthirster18 @ Oct 28 2010, 23:27) ... but that is assuming people don't start changing their bounties to lower costs now that credits are harder to come by. As I said elsewhere, nerfing hverse credit gains is not going to help the bounties. But yes, it may make them smaller... sigh. Time will tell. The end of year toplist rewards already encourage a number of awful people to take part (MasakiLHW was one of them before I negged him into stopping expunging galleries.). Add something as serious as a Mysterious Box as a reward and you'll have even more people throwing up worthless tags/ratings/expunges in an attempt to get one. Also, giving out Mysterious Boxes so willy nilly trivializes the absolute hosing some of experienced with the reduction of the training price of Ability Boost. QUOTE(Red_Piotrus @ Oct 28 2010, 21:11) It can't be because you are not on any monthly toplist, right? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Did you bother to look at the toplists? I'm 7th on the 2010 clean-up toplist despite not starting till June. (not having consistent internet made it impossible to expunge) I'm 23rd on the 2010 tagging toplist due to 2 months tagging. I've finished in the top 7 in both and 3rd or 4th in the Clean-up. If the Clean-up didn't include renames, I'd probably take 3rd on monthlies behind pop and kir. There was actually one unintentional change in equipment value which Sayo pointed out. The system was supposed to have decreased the value for non-suffix stuff, but it's actually always been increasing value for suffix items instead. Seeing as it wasn't an intended part of the balance, I've reverted that. QUOTE(Boggyb @ Oct 29 2010, 01:19) Also, have Scrolls of Absorption and Scrolls of Life been removed from the loot table?
Nope. QUOTE(cmal @ Oct 29 2010, 01:29) If non-final Rare+ mobs only have a 10% chance of dropping a trophy, do they are least have a chance of dropping a normal item? I'd at least like a potion for my troubles.
Yea, they roll off the normal loot table when they don't drop tokens, with a fairly high bonus. QUOTE(bloodthirster18 @ Oct 29 2010, 03:03) So about getting less credits...are there any plans to update the training costs to reflect the change in credits being received?
No. At least, not at this time. QUOTE(kingwolf @ Oct 29 2010, 04:29) Well, it looks like I'll be converting all my GP to credits which will result in a drastic imbalance in the e-hentai economy system. Unlikely, but this credit revamp will cause some panic and chaos among some users.
Converting large amounts of GP really doesn't affect the system significantly.

Heh, I converted 10,000,000 GP a few months back and kicked the conversion rate up 25%. Hehe, that was a good day!

The problem with e-hentai is that it's a dictatorship. This never would have passed in the House or the Senate... unless they were full of Lobbyists. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (BTW, I'm not being serious) QUOTE(Tenboro @ Oct 29 2010, 03:11) No. At least, not at this time.
A small glimmer of hope. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That was just for you. Also, since the conversion rate is based on the amount of unconverted GP in the system over all a conversion of that size while it would cause a temporary increase in conversion rate, it would then go under what it was originally.

Some people have brought up some concerns about the availability of certain types of equipment that may actually be warranted. I have no plans of making them super-common, but as the availability of equipment has been somewhat restricted, I've decided to make these rare types about twice as likely to drop. Which will of course benefit everyone, not just those who could farm them endlessly from End of Days.
Considering that non-suffix items were already removed, the actual drop rate is likely increased by a factor of about 2.5, depending on the equipment class.
(See first post for which types these are.)

Does that mean Elementalist equipment and the like? That'd be nice. Edit: or not... Battlecaster is the really good suffix, thrice blessed and spirit ward only situationally useful, and Hulk completely useless... and as DG just stated... only battlecaster and Hulk were actually rare. And nothing on restoring auto-drop trophies to IW bosses? as Red_Piotrus said, those are hardly farmable. This post has been edited by PsychoticSoul: Oct 29 2010, 12:06

Omg why would you do that? Battlecaster, Fire-eater, Frost-born, Thunder-child, Wind-waker, Thrice-blessed, Spirit-ward, Hulk, Shielding Aura
Except Battlecaster and Hulk they were fairly common to begin with. So now I'm getting more of that crap? Great..

Those aren't actually that uncommon (~10%). The ones I increased were the least common ones (<1%). QUOTE(PsychoticSoul @ Oct 29 2010, 11:56) And nothing on restoring auto-drop trophies to IW bosses? as Red_Piotrus said, those are hardly farmable.
Hmm. You know, that's a good point. So yeah, I just went and made that change as well.

<1% (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) No wonder Battlecaster gear was so rare. QUOTE(Tenboro @ Oct 29 2010, 18:22) So yeah, I just went and made that change as well.

So, can anyone tell me what these elemental gem effects do, since I actually see the silly things now.
