So... have melees been fucked over? I'm not noticing any particular difference as a mage. If anything, Spirit Mode makes things easier. And it's basically the same thing as FFIX's Trance, now that I think about it.

Melees have been fucked over...and over...and over. With every new patch. This one is not an exception. Looks like Rainboro have a soft spot for mages. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) P.S.: special thanks for no HP/MP restore after arenas, that's just fuckin' great... Tried to recalculate on that binding matter.
At upgrade level 0 it seems to be something like
Qulaity_bonus -> binidngs required (low+mid)
Below 0.5 -> 5 + 0 0.5 - 0.6 -> 4 + 1 0.6 - 0.7 -> 3 + 2 0.7 - 0.8 -> 2 + 3 0.8 - 0.85 -> 1 + 4 Above 0.85 -> 0 + 5
Note that this is only my rough estimate and may require further data-polishing.

You guys must be doing it wrong. I have no problems meleeing. It is slower than before but not by that much if you use the correct set-up.

QUOTE(Sushilicious @ Dec 24 2011, 05:59) Mid Grade Mat's certainly the bottleneck to getting anything decently high. I'm surprised Low-Grades aren't getting more action in the forging process. I got a fuckton of L-G's that I don't even know what to do with.
Well my staff requires 3 high grade and 2 mid grade per upgrade, so mid grade is not necessarily a bottleneck depending on what you upgrade and how easily you can obtain the two materials.

Man, I just realized now I can't even farm for spell proficiencies anymore without having to spend potions/tokens after the arena. I suppose it's a good thing I did most of it during the last month...

You can melee even before Tenb begin to buff them with the correct set-up, too. But the fact remains that it still sucks... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) IMO, this is the first patch ever that absolutely nerfed melee since Tenb began to buff them about a year ago. ... Yes, there was a patch that reduce stun dmg bonus, but it was too OP and after the nerfed, you still get a dmg bonus anyway so it still a plus for melee as a whole. Let me guess. Evade Shade and a Banshee Mace?

Hmmm, looks like I came back just in time for The Forge. Let's see what's up with that. I will cry about what Tenboro did to melee later. =_=
Edit: Still no way to use the extra chaos tokens huh?

well to be fair. if the forging applies after everything else, the magni makes that mace a pretty nice candidate... but yeah... non eth... and it's not like slaughter bindings fall from the sky =\

The only thing I have worth upgrading is this, but I'd rather wait for a max Robe or Pants. Or a Legendary Destruction, I'm not too picky. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)

Considering your staff is only +3, those high grade costs seem pretty ridiculous. Not sure if want. QUOTE(Ichy @ Dec 24 2011, 13:35) Let me guess. Evade Shade and a Banshee Mace?
Nah, I obliterate everything without a mace. Maces = slow. Speaking of which, here's a tip to all the aspiring melee-ers. What type of weapon doesn't get affected by damage bonuses, ignores enemy defense, and isn't affected by stamina statuses, Spirit Mode, or the obsolete OC?

Actually, the problem is I only have 5 monsters and never bothered to acquire bindings of destruction. I only had 3. Also have almost no phazons either, not that I have anything worth using them on. I still have dozens of high grade wood, despite not collecting materials for almost 2 months. And Spirit Beast Mode is making mage pretty OP against legendaries on BT DwD. It makes maging a reasonable alternative to bleeding everything. ~35 turns to kill per activation. This will go pretty fast after all. This post has been edited by hitokiri84: Dec 25 2011, 01:02
