QUOTE(Evil Scorpio @ Oct 30 2011, 12:00) High-level mages collect phazons for their gear. We, melees, just don't give a fuck about this forge thingy yet. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Personally I gave plenty of fucks for both Shade Fragments I had... but I ended up selling both in order to buy Crystals. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) And yet I'm still keeping the one and only Phazon my Aeris brought me, I imagine it looks too pretty and shiny to sell. Well, see, I don't know about other's, but personally as a Leather Armor melee I don't really give that much of a crap about Armor. The attack bonuses Shade gives is pretty paltry and there's pretty much no threat of dying of anything except boredom or mana drought until ridiculously high grindfest counts because of the uptime on stun. I could see upgrading Power Armor being a big thing since those bonuses can get pretty dang high, but I could never keep up heavy armor mana costs without like lvl 4 or 5 of IA since the proficiency drop is so ridiculous.

I can sort of agree with this sentiment. Last time I played seriously was before 0.6 or whatever. When evade scaling factor was nerfed and shade was introduced. But my phase set still works alright. In fact it's a lot easier since then. I dunno how the other sets (shade and power armor) compare now, but since I can no longer mix different types of armor I say to hell with it. I'm sticking to what I have for now. Phase melee. Yay. Also Niten sucks now so I'm going with 2h. =/

Then... What would a poor melee player (i.e. me) who bought phazons from itemshop be? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) ... A genius who smarter than mage? A dumb motherf*cker doing stupid shit? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I suppose it's still better to get a good Shade (if you want evade) or good Kevlar (if you want a good damage protection). Also: the best weapon since 0.6.1 is stun weapon, so your best choice for 2H will be Mace (ethereal, if possible). QUOTE(buktore @ Oct 30 2011, 18:25) Then... There's pretty much no way those aren't gonna be worth a good deal more than you bought them for.

Is that actually true? Since you can no longer stun already stunned enemies.. Well stunning a god is still pretty easy. But against many it's not very reliable is it? But regarding phase melee.. I dunno. I can use it without any trouble, but maybe I'm handicapping myself without realizing it. From my point of view all I need is one badass void max bleed 2h and IA5. I have IA 3 (with SV, Haste, Spirit Shield) right now and I got an mp tick every 3 turns (as in.. every 3 turns I gain 1 mp). IA 5 would work wonders. Evade Melee should still work. Back in my days Evade Silk was the best we had (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I was talking about melees paying no mind to rare crafting materials, not people buying impossibly expensive stuff from the Bazaar. Personally I subscribe to the philosophy that buying rare materials (or Ponies) from the Bazaar is a gigantic waste of money. QUOTE(Evil Scorpio @ Oct 30 2011, 15:29) Ehrm... You know, even if you don't have 450% Block, 2350 Physical Mitigation and a Legendary Tower Shield of the Barrier, you're not going to die in the first few rounds... QUOTE - Striking a monsters that is Stunned or Sleeping with a physical attack will now cause twice the normal damage. So as you can see even without permastun it's still the best weapon)) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) QUOTE(Ichy @ Oct 30 2011, 19:20) Evade Melee should still work. Why did niten get so screwed over though? Or is it just the way I used it? I liked the parry bonus on niten since it gave extra protection, but now it's utter crap. 2h gets a parry bonus for proficiency. Dual gets a 50% boost to parry. Niten gets neither of those. And of course the no prof gain. Yea I realize that it got a damage output bonus. But it's not how I used it. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) We should at least gain prof at half the usual rate. Cuz as it stands I'm not gonna bother with niten. @Evil Scorpio It's x1.5 now, not x2 ... QUOTE(Ichy @ Oct 30 2011, 22:20) Back in my days Evade Silk was the best we had (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Heh... How much Physical mit people would considered "High" at that time? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) 15% was a lot if you're not using Heavy if I'm not wrong... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) QUOTE((Cheater) Tiap @ Oct 30 2011, 22:23) I was talking about melees paying no mind to rare crafting materials, not people buying impossibly expensive stuff from the Bazaar.
Yeah, I know. I was just joking around. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) But I don't think the high amount of melee material in shop have anything to do with melee not care about crafting. It's more like the low lv people who don't care, and these people were the one dumping special material (phazon included). You don't see it in shop because rich mage bought all of them.
