QUOTE((Cheater) Tiap @ Oct 16 2011, 18:45) So did I. I'd try again, but I'd rather not lose 10 Stamina for nothing. Confirmed, by the way. Much to my chagrin. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I wonder how the forge will turn out... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) At one point, I was sure that the materials are use to "make" new gear and not "upgrading" gear that already exist. Looking at the material, I thought at one point that maybe it will be like this... QUOTE - Certain type of gear required certain type/quantity of raw materials (Cloth, Leather, Metal, Wood). Some may required a combination of the 4. - Special material is required to make special gear (Phase, Shade, Kev, etc). - Overall equipment stats depend on the Grade of raw material used. - Equipment suffix depend on the binding used. - For the lulz, maybe have a chance that the whole thing could fail and you lose all of the material. Everything seem to make sense IMO. But Tenb said that it would be about upgrading... I really have no idea how is this will turn out. My best guess is you can upgrading a piece of equipment by taking one material and one binding, and that'll upgrade the base roll of the corresponding stat (stated in the binding's description) by an amount that's probably just one. Naturally, you won't be able to upgrade the base roll higher than the item type's natural maximum possible roll (I think Tenboro stated this much already, or at least said there was a maximum). For non-rare items grade probably determines the quality of the item it can upgrade (High Grade for Exquisite+, Mid Grade for Fine and Superior, Low Grade for Crude-Average).
If this is how it works then rare materials and bindings like Fenrir, Slaughter, Destruction, and Fleet will be EXTREMELY valuable because of how rare they are compared the the amount needed to max an item. ESPECIALLY Phazon. Whereas Mid and Low grade material will be pretty much worthless.
Of course this is all speculation.

QUOTE For non-rare items grade probably determines the quality of the item it can upgrade (High Grade for Exquisite+, Mid Grade for Fine and Superior, Low Grade for Crude-Average). I don't think this will be the case. If it is, it might create a weird situation; people may choose Superior gear for the reason that Sup gear is not rare and mid grade material is very easy to get and therefore easy to upgrade compared to a usable Exq+ gear (rare) and a high grade material, which is ridiculously rare. Then again, I myself still can't guess how the material grade will fits into the equation... It probably have something to do with either 1) The amount of stats gain when upgrade. 2) The chance of success. But this will only make sense if there's some sort of limit on how many time you can upgrade each gear. ... This is just speculation, of course. Pre-nerf gear will be nerfed to "normal" stats if reforged. And there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I hope this applies to pre-buff gear too, like old phase.

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) You're forgetting that Exquisite+ gear have substantial quality bonuses (5%, 10%, and 20% to all stats) and thus the best would be better. But I admit that my speculation regarding material grades is probably the wildest of my wild speculations. The guess that it effects how much the stat increases makes at least as much sense, I just find it kinda odd that rare equipment would work in some completely different way.

I kind of get the feeling it'll be just the extra stats you can boost (physical attack accuracy/DEX/AGI), in addition to multiple consecutive upgrade costs being a bottomless pit of despair. This post has been edited by Ballistic9: Oct 19 2011, 12:16

My guess is that you can forge equipments pass their maximum base roll, as long as the it doesn't violate the maximum average equipment quality imposed by quality prefix.
Based on my guess...
1. Yes, you can still upgrade your pre-nerf equipments, but you may not have so much room for improvement.
2. Equipments with Exquisite stat or above will become valuable, because it has higher maximum average quality, which means you may further increase a particular stat. Same for high-grade materials, as said by Tenb.
3. It balance the superior-exquisite problem from buktore. Yes, superior equipments may use materials which costs way less than exquisite equipments, but its stat can never be comparable to those exquisite.

I was going to call it a day just now. "Maybe check the itemshop one last time" was what I thought... QUOTE 2011-10-19 10:13 -1500 Purchased 3 "Stocking Stuffers" 2011-10-19 10:13 -5000 Purchased 1 "Shimmering Present" Isn't Shimmering Present the one that give you exquisite? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) I believe this is what I got last time if I'm not wrong. (it was a pretty good rapier for the time) And Stocking Stuffers will give you shit, right? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I think I'll offer it next time I play. ... Maybe I'll keep the present for a little longer...
