Hmm, I'm starting to wonder if Ethereals have their own quality bonus when rolled. Every ethereal I've seen has been Fine quality or above.

There was something about the Ethereal prefix itself adding to the equipment quality...

If you get a superior weapon that rolls as ethereal, it gets a "bonus" to the quality readout that could tip it over as exquisite, but this happens after the thing that makes the proc. And no this isn't fixed on live, but the fix will be not having it apply a bonus like that, so it won't actually have an effect except for on the name and value of the item.

...but if that fix was actually implemented, that wouldn't apply any more. But who knows?

Did a certain pink furry-bottomed someone turn up the monster difficulty in the arena?

Weapons with the quality grade of fine or above can have the additional prefix Ethereal. (According to Tenboro, the chance of them dropping is 1%, but in reality, the drop rate is significantly lower.)

Oho, well that would explain that.

Of course, that's just based on what people have seen in the Equipment thread.

Remember though, just because it is fine and ethereal doesn't mean it is any good.

When ET was introduced you didn't need to proc CM in the monster before, so at that time they could be useful.
