i can't rename my witch. it's pissing me off. The rename option tells me i have to use 3 chaos tokens to rename a mob : fine, i've got three. I click on rename, type in the new name, and tada, nothing changed. instead i get a "Monster cannot be renamed" message in the bottom left corner.

Tenboro talked about how the witches may cause grief and despair in their owner. i understand now.

Have you checked if the new name's already used by someone else?

sure. a few days ago nobody used discworld-related names except me and one other guy. let me check...nope, name not in use. Lord Aragon is the closest that it gets, and i don't use LotR inspired names.

i don't care about that honestly. The witch doesn't belong to frith anymore. I can handle flames on the basis "U CHANGEZ DA NME OFF DIS CHARKTAR. DYEEE!!11".

So no, there is not a good reason why i can't change the name. Especially since the option is given, but doesn't work properly.

Let's put an analogy to this, shall we? What if frith wrote a one-page essay about cheesecake. He put some effort in it, but then decided to throw it in the trashcan because of a hissyfit or whatever his problems were. By chance i aquire this essay, and rework it to my purposes.
Why should A ) he have a problem with it? he did create it, but then threw it away. He himself stated that he didn't care what we do to the witches, so long you don't mess with enya or whatever her name is. i don't care.
B ) Why should people care what kind of order some letters of the alphabet get arranged as an imagenary monster? You will kill it one way or the other. I could name it "Blue icky goo on the underside of your shoe" and you wouldn't think twice and simply spam spells/attacks on it until it greys out.


I don't want to make a big fuss out of it, but i kinda looked forward to rename her. I don't like strike witches and couldn't care less what people think about my naming choices.

The reason "people might get upset" is not a good one. Try again.

Ok this is going to be a horrible example because text != living creature, but I'll put it forward anyways. Because work sucks and I'm bored.


Say you have a dogthing. And your dogthing has puppythings. You try to raise them, but there are to many and take up to much of your time. You have to give them away, but you've become attached to them. You've named them and given them collars and spent money on them. You bring them in top a dogthing adoption center, and request that the future adopter(s) keep the names you gave your puppythings.

Sure, ser douche'alot may come along and rename your puppything after he/she adopts it, but most people when given that request by the adoption center are going to honor it.



In this case apparently the puppythings are trained well enough that ser douche'alot's new name won't stick, they only respond to the name they were given.

Well, i said more than enough about this topic. If i can change the name, hooray for me. if not, who cares. A bit dissapointing for me, but i won't /Ragequit over an array of letters and numbers like other progamers in a browserrpg(sounds a bit stupid, doesn't it?)
