The people who speak up tend to be the most hardcore players. They tend to be stronger and more wealthy. Maybe they reach the endgame and get bored. There are probably more players in a more casual class who will never reach DD9 and 600 proficiencies, but since they don't or are afraid to speak up, their opinions aren't heard. They'll just quit playing the game.
In my experience the most vocal speakers are actually the long-time casuals: never quite reaching their goals & still with a personal investment in how those goals are attained. The 'most hardcore players' generally spend a year or two trying to be The Best Player Ever then retire...

... a disaster may befall us...
I've been saying from the beginning that all our equipment may be ruined... it we should have known that change comes with risk...
... are afraid to speak up...
You don't think this is a little dramatic? I mean, it's going to be
different, but what are better or worse relative to? I've come to see video games as a set of problems to be solved & the process of solving to be the part you're meant to enjoy... so I'm kind of neutral on whatever changes happen - it'll just give me something to do. It's not like HV has a clear victory scenario or anything, but I liked working out the sandbox for myself (which is why I never ended up writing more than just the mage equipment stuff & a few wiki pages - there's not much else in HV to do besides try it for yourself!).
