I want the playerbase to realize that this game would be an absolute misery without the people who desperetely try everything to keep it from bleeding profusely. It's just too easy to let us carry all the burden (no pun intended) and do as if everything was okay.

I tried my hardest to become as strong and independent as possible as I expected this to happen eventually either by burn out or other unexpected reasons. I'm not there yet and it's obvious there's a reduced number of players still keeping things together and comfortable and if they're gone we weaklings are fucked three ways to heaven so thanks for your service decon. Also thanks for the help so far, a decent chunk of my income and gear came from the auctions and the WTB thread so you helped keep the boat afloat without a doubt.

I already knew about those reasons. And they are not as acceptable as you think they are. We all understand that you are Tendonboro and that shit happens in real life, but guess what: it's the same for everyone (starting with myself), and we still try to manage despite everything.

You have a bunch of people behind you to take care of things. Do make use of that voluntary force, and if security is an issue, there are solutions for that too. If you can't take care of your HV "baby", it's time to learn how to hand it to someone capable's care, with everything set up so that nothing goes wrong. Heck I'd have even done it myself if I had the opportunity. Despite being already overloaded. Despite already not having the time. I would have found a way.

You had to expect such reactions sooner or later. Nothing against you buddy, but when we're promised an update by the end of 2020 after already too long and already excessive negligence, it's normal to take it to the letter and wait until 31/12/2020 to see if it's true and to pronounce the sentence in early January 2021. Even if I already knew about that story with new servers since a few days, a word is a word and you've failed. You should have done the necessary so that kind of issue wouldn't have been in the way of your word. More importantly: you shouldn't have waited until the very end of 2020.

Hope you didn't have to put up with my whims too much for all those years. I was trying not to bother you for "futile" things too much. I'll still have a chat with you any time, it was a pleasure talking with you nonetheless.

If you think I should have prioritized the game over critical infrastructure work that would have literally made stuff break and/or grind to a halt if it wasn't done, you're not quite right in the head. I cannot recall making any sort of promise about an update by the end of 2020, though it was planned to go out with the Xmas stuff around the 21st-22nd, but even though I ordered the servers literally mid-November (around the time I finished setting up the previous servers) after being promised a 10-day delivery window, they weren't actually working until 2020 had already ended, and then it takes time to actually set them up (and I'm STILL waiting for an IP assignment because everyone goes on fucking holiday). So you can criticize all you want, but you don't know what you are talking about.

going to be keeping my expectations low since i still have fun even though i wish melee were significantly better. I just started playing again the past few weeks so i'm not sure what tendies-san has leaked, but if it is anything like the past 3 patches there will be 0 'impactful' changes to encourage build diversity.

normally, like basara pointed out, small frequent patches are the way to go. Unfortunately, the small balance changes we got over the past 5 years of patches have done almost nothing to promote any playstyle other than one subset of mage. In this scenario it is necessary to go for more impactful changes in my opinion.
