Rich players are getting seriously bored. That's the only explanation possible.

you can buy DD anytime, but peerless matching staff at action is very rare

Yes it's rare but not really useful.
The difference is very minor for peerless and good legendary.
Also it's a PAWD which has disadvantage in EDB compared to wind/elec.
With 100m you can build a decent full wind/elec set, and most probably it deals more damage compared to a cold set with PAWD.

Lol mouisaac is selling his really great Legendary Hallowed Rapier of Slaughter for 9.999m at auction. "It's just 99 cents!"

I think the difference between Peerless and Legendary is greatest on a staff because they have way more stats that are important compared to other weapon types. That part of the price valuation I have no issue with.

However, I thought Willow is the wrong kind of staff for Arctic? Isn't LARD better than LAWD, and thus even a decent LARD might be better than a PAWD? I'm not a mage; I just took a glance at the different kinds of staff in the wiki.

Looking at the WTB I see that the player with a winning bid is a rich Snowflaker who already got himself a PSWD. In that case, his bid makes sense for collector purposes. Buying that PAWD would be cheaper than Snowflaking a single staff, I think.

Actually how much exactly does it cost to Snowflake a single item? I'm sure any Snowflaker knows, but it's something that shall never have any meaning for me. It's so out of reach that I don't even dream about or wish for it. Even if someone gave me Snowflake perk for free I doubt I would ever use it.

The argument to be made for LAWD is the combination of counter-resist and deprecating prof (= even more counter-resist, for deprecating spells specifically) means you should land a considerable amount more imperils, and the general-purpose counter-resist will help towards consistency for your damaging spells too. It is a pretty chunky EDB loss, but imperil isn't badly held back by damage anyway...

I would still personally rather have a good LARD, though.

Also, it costs somewhere around 13~mil per 10mil in shrine value (you pay 1300 for the schoolgirl trophies that are worth 1000 to Snowflake, and similar differences for the other low tier trophies), but you can also recover maybe 4mil of that in raw credit value of the bazaar trash you receive, according to my calculations (it may be slightly less, but shouldn't be significantly so). So it's not so bad... for individual cases, but when you consider how many you may need to do to get what you want... just look at sssss2's results.

FoS is still the ultimate way to burn credits for people who already have everything else they could want. It's a method of high-end equipment generation, for items that otherwise simply don't exist for trade at all, or perhaps once every couple years...

Oh, it's "only" actually ~10 million to make a Snowflake peerless then. I guess my mind is not as blown now. I suppose I could dream about it after all, but still I'm not in that league of wealth. I'm far from having what I want: aside from my very nice sword, shield, and swimsuit, the rest of my clothes have been rags for a year.

Actually I could buy Snowflake right now if I wanted to and make a bunch of staffs. But that would waste my lifetime supply of Midas Money and I have no income.

Hmm, if it's "only" 10m to make a staff though, I think 100m is still fairly pricey. I knew LAWD was considered good, but I guess it's better than I thought.

Mage is still a long ways away for me unless I suddenly find a bunch of stuff on the ground like that one guy recently did. He sadly sold his robe just before he got the staff but I can't blame him, the odds of that happening were close to zero.

Look at sssss2's quest for his staff... FoS is very much at the mercy of serious RNG if you want a specific one.

Though, that's the extreme case: where you're rich enough for FoS AND enough to chase a specific element. You could 'strategically' pick FoS and then try for any of the really good staffs - PHOH, PSWD, PTWD, PDWD - and then switch the rest of your gear to match.

But I do not think this is actually a good strategy for anyone looking to improve their performance, unless they have literally nothing else left to do with their money. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

imagine somebody doing the same thing as him chasing for PDWD and got 2 PHOH instead.
and then they both look each other in the eyes.
and you know how that'll end.

Doing +3% again and again over someone else's bids while being far away from your maximum is quite the opposite of being courteous and consistent. Do I have to explain how?

yes, explain to me what's the difference between his retarded +3% and your courteous and consistent +50k

anyway, my opinion, your inappropriate remark about 'retarded bidding' is an attempt to put pressure on the auction participants, which is NOT COOL

Ok, you asked for the nuke and you're going to get it.

Bidding +3% over and over again to make ridiculously small increments on low bids is pure spam that serves absolutely no purpose other than annoying the other bidders, forcing them to raise the price in your stead a big amount of times, and attempting to snatch away in the hope that the said other bidder won't be present to overbid.
That's 3 very uncool things that put the pressure on the other bidders to go straight to their max (potentially for nothing) because there is no other way to get rid of someone who decided to act such a lame way, when there is no proxy bidding available (because that's out of order right now).

If anything, he's the one who started putting the pressure on me with that bullshit. If you can't understand how it's uncourteous, disrespectful, what's the difference between a 3kC increase and a 50kC increase, seriously you are a lost cause. That's not an inappropriate remark to make someone know that he's being uncool. The only thing I can be blamed for, is deciding to make him taste how it feels like to face someone who acts like that.

I won't waste any more time trying to explain something that should be obvious.

min bid increment is in the rules
no one should adjust their bets to any other rules in your head just because you consider the official +3% to be disrespectful

and if you 'being far away from your maximum', +50k is ridiculously small too
you both don't want to overpay, just your increase step is a little more and you decided to pretend to be a respected sir

upd
seriously, can anyone explain me? since he doesn't want to waste time
why +3k is not enough but +50k is enough? why 50k?
and would +10k be enough? +25k?
where is the border of respectful bets and how to determine it?
should Super update the rules?
//Minimum bid increments: +3% for [Mat]s or +50k if Don Carleone is bidding too and you need to bid with respect//

Is there a reason someone would prefer PDWD to PHOH? I'm not a mage so am wondering if anyone would actually prefer dark to holy mage, if equipment is not an issue.

If PAWD is considered almost as good as PARD these days then I suppose that is an easy way to compare cold mage vs lightning/wind mage because they are the same except for less EDB with fire/cold mage due to the staff, PAWD vs PSWD.

well of course there is a good reason to prefer PDWD to PHOH!

1. Dark is more cool. It just is.
2. If you have a PHOH, you will be needing radiant heimdalls. And those are so expensive! Good ones are at least twice the price of good fenrirs.
3. Same goes for the charged cottons. Maybe the price difference is even higher there.

if equipment were not an issue, we'd all be playing holy.

Amusing, that's exactly what I had in mind before I saw your post.

I think that there are too many players who are spoiled, act cocky, think big of themselves, have nothing to learn from others, drag others names in the mud for everything and anything, or God knows what else. There are also too many players who consider that what they have at their disposal is a due and that they can mess about freely without consequences. Over the last few months, this section of the forums has become too much of an obnoxious jungle full of trolls, snowflakes and bullshit, void of respect, actual expertize and friendship. I was already being quite irritated by that since a few months, but the recent events made me decide that I can't tolerate/close my eyes on that anymore, to take some sad decisions and to show that bad behavior can be punished over Internet too.

So allow me to cut the grass under everyone's feet and teach a bit of humility by:
-cancelling my plans to fix the equipment registration bot, for starters (so bye-bye equipment range updates/fixing)
-not fixing potential serious issues on the database and related services that would require a lot of work
-keeping every kind of maintenance to the very strict minimum
-denying all kinds of requests/info/assistance, except those that come from some select people who did something to deserve my respect
-not making late registrations in my auctions anymore (sending on Monday or Sunday 11pm = you wait one entire week)
-[i.imgur.com] Seiga-pawnching away and publicly those who don't behave; it's been a while I haven't done that
-not providing my opinion/expertise on various subjects, and just not talk at all here anymore in this very section, save for teaching someone some manners
-only reading/listening/considering/answering to people who have a minimum of kindness, manners, respect and consideration toward others; the others can just fuck off, i'm not a robot/tool
-just not being nice, patient, tolerant and benevolent anymore

For those who already had complains about me before this post, now you'll have good reasons to be unhappy, and the worst is that you won't even be able to complain about it because I'm perfectly in my rights.

From now on, I will be enjoying myself and having a lot of fun not caring about anything at all anymore except me, myself and the shininess of my blade to admire my pretty self in it. I'll be very picky regarding the politeness if I have to go out of my way for someone. Oh, and if it's still not clear enough: I don't care anyone's opinion regarding this decision and there is no way back. No way back save from obtaining a forum full of good boys and cute girls, real experts, pink fluffy unicorns, kitty kittens, head pats, cuddles and meow meow.

(IMG:[i.imgur.com] https://i.imgur.com/Uzlmyp2.png)

And I'm off now. Nyah. X(
