I would scan more if it didn't take 2-4 scans on some monsters.
Then I just said "fuck it" and don't scan anymore.

They need not to have any status ailment to be scannable.

Because it is really, very important to keep all those shadowcat, memoria and peeless monster scanned at all times. At least i am sick of scanning them over and over and over again. There are only two types of monster i still scan. My own and those that never has been scanned before and yes i did one of the last just a few weeks ago. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) But the rest can burn in never been scanned ever again hell. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Also, why do we keep scanning them/have the monster DB stats on screen?
I no brain monkey mode most my battles anyway.
Even those I don't, just imperil everything and hit away randomly.
Seems to work just fine.
I used to prioritize the green monsters (recommended to be highlighted by the monsterbation script)
But nowadays I don't even bother with that.
Haven't seen any difference to be honest

Some players do appreciate having the detailed stats of the monsters, some appreciate querying the database for various reasons. I myself appreciate knowing what mons are more likely to be stronger (PL2250) even though I don't pay that much attention to it because everything dies it easy anyway.
Even scanning the crap like shadowcats is useful: at least we do know how strong they are and how many of them there are.

That screenshot proves one thing: either nobody cares at all, or there are some players who do care but they're being leeches. Either way, that's not a nice thing to see, and I'm wondering why I'm working my ass off for the maintenance.

don't you have high level monsters yourself? uncle is only trying to get monsters up to level 600

My goal for 2019 is have them all at or a little above PL1500.
Holy diamond batman.... its tough when they start out low, but going from PL1300 to PL1500 is insane.

I see one of mine about every 4 rounds or so.

I'll be skipping most Dawns. Since I was lower level last year, it was okay to play just Random Encounters at times. But at my current level I should do some Arenas too. If I can't, then I should skip Dawn otherwise I will level up without being productive.

speaking of scanning monsters, here's something i'd like to hear people's opinions about:

when i released the scanner, pl 2250 monsters were excluded from being highlighted for scan unless their name had changed, figuring that there is no need to scan them continuously since their stats wouldn't change. i later removed this exception, figuring that knowing these monsters still have their recorded name for sure is still useful. right now this is a bit of a non-issue as there are only 40 such monsters in the database, but this may change in the future

i am working on the next big monsterbation update (may take a while, still got a lot of work) and i want to come to a firm decision on this matter before release, but i am still undecided. any thoughts?

Mmmmm, then no, definitely no.
But then, IMHO, a scan every 2 months is problematic, compared to the "hide stale monsters" of the monster list, that still works for 30 days.

Perhaps I should update that to 60 aswell.

I agree, don't scan well-known monsters that haven't had name changed.

Every 2 months - no, as there is no change (at least in current game version).

And name can be updated automatically (first log entry with MID and names)...
