I think Tenboro straight fucked up the term pre-nerf in regards to equipment. Old evasion phase is still better than what will ever drop now, but this patch brought a massive boost to a number of pieces of gear (largely offsetting the massive magic nerf, but that's besides the point when it comes to equipment). This brings up the question: are we still going to call it pre-nerf gear? Because really, it is now pre-nerf pre-buff gear...

Gen1 gear? (don't know about that.) But at least it's gen1 phase right?

Generation 2 gear- post-nerf, pre-5.3 gear

What stats on pre-nerf gear are still better than post 0.5.3 gear? That EDB buff sounds pretty stellar.

Evade is most likely still better on pre-nerf phase. (The global scaling factor was changed.)

As for everything else.. it was a stupid way to upgrade the gear. He could've changed the scaling factor on edb too, but instead he increased the possible base. Which makes every other piece up to this point worthless. (Same for mitigation.) I really don't get why he nerfed retroactively by changing the scaling factor, but buffed everything else by increasing max base. I doubt I can ever trust hv equipment again. By this I mean, before I considered equipment to be a good and necessary investment. But now it's pray it's still any good in a few month' time.

That said there's hope. So let's wait and see how it goes.

I could, but increasing the scaling factor would also have increased the natural EDB on staffs, and I didn't want to do that. "Investing" in equipment isn't really any different from any other "MMO".

I've never played WoW, but I've heard (lol Drunk Tank podcasts) that each time a major patch is released pretty much every piece of equipment that people spent extraordinary amounts of time and effort into obtaining becomes useless.

From personal experience, I know that when Diablo II went to LoD and then as new runewords were introduced, previously valuable equipment turned to shit.
