It probably has to do with how high the total amount of tokens for anyone winning 4th or 5th place which just happens to be right now exactly 52 chaos tokens.

People should always take into account that in a weapon lottery especially if what is in there isn't an overrated weapon like for example a peerless rapier doesn't mean that the majority of tickets spent are solely to try and get that weapon.

Yeah, but at first there has to be an actual demand for that weapon so that enough token appear to get a higher demand as usual. Hm, or now that i think about it. Maybe some rich people just create those tokens in the first place in the hope to get them while there is an actual worthless piece of equipment in the lottery that would otherwhise never get that much attention. No, no, and no all along. Ethereal is bottom-tier for a shortsword. You can negate the burden+interference entirely with a feather. But you can't negate an Ethereal's "elemental lottery" that comes with IW10, unless you stay at IW9 and spend two infusions instead of only one when you start battling. In which case you can't give it a cool name anyway.

One wants either Hallowed, Demonic or Arctic, nothing else.

Somehow I never considered the name thing until now, har har. I always finish my ethereal weapons anyway, with my relatively low turns/second I don't use infusions. On DW the element need not be as finicky because the other elemental shields don't have their 1H counter-related drawbacks.

Come to think of it, I wonder if Fiery is not underrated for 1H. Though the Electric shield may be useless it does not reduce the frequency of 1H counters. I recently calculated that Swift Strike 5 while lowering incoming damage by 10% may reduce 1H damage output by 2.3% (about the equivalent of negative Butcher 5) assuming an average of 1 counter per turn [5*1.92%*0.75/(0.75+2.4)]. Cold and Wind Shield should have equal weakening effect as they also improve defense by 10%.

So 1H Fiery might do 2.3% more damage than 1H Wind and 1H Electric.

After I'm done testing, that is.

What I found might interest some of you who are looking for the best that is still affordabel:
- Staff High MDB + mid-range EDB + very low Prof staff: works perfect for 3+2 as 'affordable' non-imperil style
- Staff mid-range MDB + high EDB + high Prof staff: works just as good, almost exactly the same, as above. That is when you play it 4+1 style with a (near) peerless robe for prof cotton slot. Again, 'affordable' non-imperil style.

Both staves are about the same price, high-MDB is just a bit more expensive probably. But that is not justified.

Drop me a PM if you are interested, price will be higher than the forging costs of course.
