QUOTE(Benny-boy @ May 24 2018, 17:28) TFW you live in the poorest European country, but still have cheap & stable 100Mb/1Gb internet (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) Well to know witch country is actual the poorest was a lot easier before all those financial crisis in the last few years. So i just use an rng and guess, Luxembourg? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Hm, when i look at how much houses they buy in germany i shouldnt be suprised that those are poor now. It is no fun when you lost your home because a rich as shit Luxembourger did buy it just to sell it a month later for a higher price and you cant even afford the the rent of any of the still free apartments in your home village where your family has lived for nearly 800 years because prices are sky rockening through roof. And all of that just because those Luxembourgers have more money as FSM himself and did buy every house, apartment, mailbox and dog house that isnt fast enough up a tree in the whole region you did once call home and you have eveb to left the whole region because of that and something about open borders and a lot of persons with open hands and no id back in 2015. QUOTE(Uncle Stu @ slow internet) Well, let me tell you a real story. Just a few years ago i was working for a company that supplied people with internet via the cables of cable TV. And i had one a customer who asked me if they would also get a new modem because the old one was just so noisy if you understand what i mean. We may be a first world industry nation, but when it comes to internet, we are not even allowed to call ourself a third world country. Cable internet is not as slow or outdated as people believe. In fact copper wire carries a signal faster than fiber optic does, but price per bandwidth is more expensive than fiber optic. So what's important is to have a fiber optic backbone for your internet service provider. Cable to the house can actually be faster than fiber optic to the house, as long as the cable provider has a good fiber optic backbone. I play this game from a couple of locations, one with fiber optic to the house, and one with cable modem. The cable modem location is four to ten times faster. And we always have crappy modem too and have changed it so many times for newer models over the years.

It should be somewhere in top-middle, but I don't really know much about (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

You dont understand. I was there to give them cable internet. All they had was a 56k modem. Well, maybe you are not old enough to remember those, i dont know. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) And all you have to know about Luxembourg is that it is made of gas stations and banks, and also that they have cheap gas and cheap coffee and they are familiarized with german invasion armies to drive trought. Salary is so hard topic. Some people live with low prices and small salary and its actually almost same as person who has big one but everything cost big chunk of that. Especially we can see that in development. What if by any reason city starts to earn double amount of money? Even farmer there d say "ok, now everyone earn in 2 times more, so i wanna too and can/have to sell my product for double price now". Nothing changes, right? We can see that only in international trading. Even online games charges different prices for different countries, dispute its not just similar product, its absolutely same and mutual.

Iirc this also have a lot to do with taxes and such. I mean as a german i can read that on every single german book i own. Because there is allways the price for german AND for austria written above the barcode on the back. And i have to pay less for the same book. Thanks austrians for making me happy not be one of you everytime i buy a book. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

The thing is - quality of life improves worldwide due to progress and globalization, but you can buy less and less each year for average salary. So rich become richer, and everyone else are kept between survival and something stable with limited options. This way any regressive and ineffective system can sustain it's power until something irrevocable happens, and then either adapt or reintegrate. In my opinion the key to globally develop a strong social policy that can sustain comfortable life with part-time work and shift attention from wealth gain, to cultural and scientific gain by creating opportunities and public/less public places for it. Of course it's too good to be easily achieved, but think it must be achieved.

chemistamu is afk and wants someone to lock their wts/wtb shops and iw service according to what they wrote on their signature. I recommend that you take back whatever you sent to chemistamu. This post has been edited by PersonaFan08: May 26 2018, 08:34
