QUOTE(treesloth @ Mar 31 2018, 08:08) there's plenty of things that aren't known in medicine. most autoimmune disorders aren't understood at all; neither is mental illness, mechanisms of dementia, alzheimers, neuroanatomy, i could go on. medicine/science is light years ahead compared to 20 years ago. Takes time. research is difficult !
this, hands down. QUOTE(Uncle Stu @ Mar 31 2018, 09:55) find a whole new organ?
and many others may be discovered later. my wild guess, it may also depend on the definition used for "organ" (just look at what happened with Pluto "planet", which is still there but not a planet anymore, technically). technically speaking, an "organ" is a whole aggregate of tissues which concur to realize the same function - so even skin could be an organ. to be fair, the vastest organ we have on our body (roughly 1.5~2 m^2 on an adult). yet, would you consider it an organ, knowing what liver, heart and lungs are? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) QUOTE(sickentide @ Mar 31 2018, 10:13) if i understand the news correctly, they didn't exactly find it, just pronounced that some known tissue is now recognised as an organ of its own
didn't read the article myself, but that's plausible, yep.

Ehm, it is even now a "planet". It may be a dwarfplanet, but a planet nonetheless. And please dont start with that plutoid bullshit, the whole trans-Neptunian definition is bullshit. Or did we now start to name every eighth of a solarsystem neptun? No? See? Bullshit! They should have just define that sort of stuff with the Kuiper belt. And yes, believe it or not, but that is the reason why i dont accept the whole plutoid stuff. Could? Afaik the skin IS an organ. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Just checked, the skin IS an organ. This post has been edited by Uncle Stu: Mar 31 2018, 16:21

Yep. When I was little, it was a planet. It's still a planet for me. Also, a good counter argument to the "eigth planet" bullshit, well, Pluto's orbit crosses path with Neptune's twice, so technically, for some time, it's the eigth planet, and Neptune is the ninth.

QUOTE(igs88 @ Mar 31 2018, 16:24) That's (the research results) what i'm waiting for, been waiting for a decade to cure myself...
(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) sorry to hear that buddy... i think autoimmune and mental illnesses are the worst QUOTE(Uncle Stu @ Mar 31 2018, 17:55) All what you did wrote is true, but find a whole new organ? Sorry, but that is imo no difficult research, this is just complete inability.
Sometimes these 'scientists' have nothing better to do than rustle up a storm of their own research papers. It's a way to try to convince the boards at the National Institutes of Health to fund their research. Yes, a new thing now is some people are calling even the interstitium (space between cells) a new organ. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) This post has been edited by treesloth: Mar 31 2018, 21:54

It is still official a dwarf planet. QUOTE(Juggernaut Santa @ Mar 31 2018, 19:53) Also, a good counter argument to the "eigth planet" bullshit, well, Pluto's orbit crosses path with Neptune's twice, so technically, for some time, it's the eigth planet, and Neptune is the ninth.
Plutos perihelion may be closer to the sun as the normal orbit of neptune but its aphelion which is much farer away) makes clear -even if we would still count it to the normal planets- it is sure as sure not the eight. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Well, yes. What I was saying is that, for that short period, they swap "rank positions" and then swap them back again (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

It makes me eat a dose of drugs every single day to keep me "live and sane" and keeping my nutrition balanced and restricted to almost all of MSGed food... And because of that i always like doing every day like my last day.... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE(Uncle Stu @ Apr 1 2018, 14:31) Not bad, the worst. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) Multiple sclerosis cost me a dear friend. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif) Yep, the worst. But i'm so grateful that i'm still alive (and typing this) at this moment right now. Maybe my SLE is the worst (at first attack 17 years ago to me) because i almost died at that time, but i saw worse than mine. And because of SLE too, i become a "vampire" till now because the sun can drop my condition rapidly... QUOTE(Uncle Stu @ Apr 1 2018, 15:36) Oh, SLE, i was hoping for a type 1 diabetes. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Diabete, stroke, and cardiac attack are like flu in my country, so many tv shows showed how to prevent them. But none show how to maintain diseases like ours, so the people like us (have something uncommon inside their body) can stay "normal"....

Hey, at least you know what you have. A mother of a friend of mine has no idea what makes her sick and she did all the tests and machines back and forth at least a hundred times and without a diagnosis, no therapy, without therapy there is no stoping for her slowly dying.

That's absolutely correct. At first attack, i felt i could die anywhere anytime soon. But when i got the result and maintain myself till now, i feel a lot better as long as i can keep my self aware of anything that could drop me low.... And the sun is my "archenemy" (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
