Anyway, for getting a following, i saw it mostly go like this: write chapters that aren't too short often, make the story engaging, write it in a place were a lot of people pass, and people will flock to it.
After you can publish the completed books on amazon too.
It is respectable, imho.

But i dont write in english. There will be so much lost in translation. I did try it once, to show someone what i do write. It was so terrible. I guess it was like read something from a 5th grader. I think the saying goes "it takes ten years before an author can makes sales on a book." Physical copies today are practically collector's items, so if you don't want to go online and sell the hard copy later, you're making things considerably more difficult for yourself. Well, it is a stick, with a mobilphone card in it. Max speed when it wörks around 110kB/s. Or around 1Mb/s for those who like it to fall for the commercial. You have to notice the small b, because it doesnt mean Byte. But who the hell does think about bits today? I mean that was something that was important when i got my first PC. But today it is just another method to nap the costumers. But hey, it is enough to play HV, check my mails, watch some Youtube vids on 480. And if it would acctually wörk like i pay for it, it would be happy. The only problem is that since october in the whole region the 3G netwörk is just fucked up. And 2G? With all those smartphones out there that use it too and all the traffic todays internet need? Fugetaboutit.

Well we call it a Surfstick and i just was to lazy to look up a translation. So i just used words i knew. Well, i have 110KB/s because that is the highest speed possible for the whole time. If i would change the operator, i still had to pay those one, still 1 year and a half before the contract ends, but also had a max speed of 7kB/s. I dont know how you look at it, but i preffer the 110kB/s. More digits.

English speakers probably don't often consciously realize how nice it is to have such sheer volume of stuff available to read (should they wish). I imagine readers of less popular languages have it a bit harder. Not that there's ever a dearth of stuff to read, but finding exactly the sort of thing you're interested in is easier when there's so much to choose from.

He's both skilled and lucky. I think it's quite easy to write a lot, and to write what you think is the best you can manage, without gaining that many readers. I don't know how it really works, but true real success isn't exactly common, and not for lack of trying.

I know, i know. I just cant. I have much too high quality standards, and what somehow no one did mentioned, i do write in the wrong genre. I will sure as sure never actually write a bestseller that will be published in multiple languages. The genre is way too small for that. Or at least it is here. A colleague of me, who writes contemporary literature tell so often, i should change the genre when i actually want to make enough money with it to pay my bills. Btw i do that once in a while when my agency ask me to do it for a contract. But i just dont feel that happy with it. It is part of making a name. Even when it is just a small name. But i could never change it forever.
