QUOTE(as013 @ Jan 13 2018, 01:24) Anyone here dealt with a noisy air conditioner before? I left my aircon with my friend thinking he would be using it. But he left it to collect dust for 5 weeks straight and now it's noisy as fuck and I'm kinda scared it's gonna explode any time.
Update on this baby. After 2 hours struggling, I finally took the case off. Then I saw shit tons of rusted screws inside. Too rusted to even move them. Tried some thorough cleaning on wherever I could reach. The problem still persists. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Tbh I would rather buy a new one. This one I salvaged from the kitchen when people left and threw away what they didn't need anymore. Judging from the degree of rusting, I would say it's at least 6 years old

Could you show a pic of the inside? Somehow i doubt it from a pic, but maybe i see something that could case the noise.

I guess some people don't really care about maintenance as long as their stuff work, then throw them away the moment they go haywire

That is just a natural law. And afaik until now no one was able to brake that law forever, but there is allways someone who tried. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

It's not shaming though, it's saying "Dude that's a lot of money for what it is (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)" QUOTE(Uncle Stu @ Jan 13 2018, 17:36) Iron does oxidate. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) There are alloys or coatings that do not oxidate, though. And stuff that stays inside the house shouldn't really oxidate much in general. I wish my usb connectors stop getting rust. I don't know why they're rusting even when they're gold plated and I clean every week + full pc clean every month.

...Do you live in a really humid place or/and near the sea? Because those are the only places i could think of where stuff like that happens.

Yeah, humidity + salt air = everything rusts/corrodes You're kind of fucked, but a dehumidifier will do wonders (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But iron more or less the most common on earth and easy to work with, so of course it is often used. QUOTE(gianfrix94 @ Jan 13 2018, 17:41) And stuff that stays inside the house shouldn't really oxidate much in general.
Why shouldnt it? Does your house stop chemical processes inside of it? How does it do this? Magic? Friendship? On this ship? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Normally, less humidity and, in case of living near the sea, salt air than outside, duh (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) PS: I think steel is more used This post has been edited by gianfrix94: Jan 13 2018, 19:49

I'm pretty sure a DEA Buckler of the Barrier would be quite better for your purposes
