Didn't think about that before, but that's a good point... very high level players now have much more incentive to use Imperil even on lower difficulties, since monster HP scales up more with level and less with difficulty now.

I know, totally but I don't use Imperil on Normal. I use Weaken and Imperil during my randoms on PFUDOR and then blast them with OFC. I do use Holy or Dark and some elemental spells and OFC on normal arenas to get through that shit faster. I try to make it to the end of the long arenas just to get a bonus Chaos Token.

(you want to blast through low difficulty, so what style do you use?)

Haute couture. Maybe a little Gaultier and Armani with a dash of Christian Siriano.

I bet that playing Imperil in PFUDOR would get you faster than no-imperil in Normal.

I didn't realize Imperil wasn't an ultra expensive spell. I always thought it cost a lot of MP to use but after checking it on my quickbar, it's not bad. Been using it on my normal arenas now. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

OMG, Imperil and OFC is blasting through that borefest arena. I still do like Banishment once in a while, especially when it hits them all and lights the row up. Unf.

I never used to use any spells on normal arenas and so my profs suffered. Then when the patch came that buffed monsters even on normal, I started using spells. My profs are up now with the dawn prof boost so I guess I don't need to use all those extra spells as much.

Just in case you don't know already, the most efficient way to do things is:

• If you're primarily concerned about gaining magic proficiency, play in Crude IW with little damage output (or in regular arenas with no Imperil if you're willing to pay more attention)
• If you're primarily concerned about getting through rounds quickly, choose one style (no-Imperil Holy or Dark mage preferred if you have the funds, I think. 2h melee requires much less initial investment but performs worse and will not work on higher difficulty)
• Don't mix and match prof grinding with regular grinding, or offensive spells with melee attacks, or the total time required per benefit in the end will be much higher.
• Proficiency isn't useful on its own - you need to play a dedicated style that uses the prof for it to come in handy, so don't feel like you have to max everything for the sake of it

Yes, that. I only play for the Chaos Tokens to give to my monsters. I would be so rich if I didn't have monsters and probably wouldn't even bother with HV.

Then I get Blood Tokens dropped during my arenas and to get rid of them, I do Ring of Blood and then it gives me more Blood Tokens as a bonus drop! >_<
