What I find funny is when I said I wasn't an ordinary user, meaning I'm flamboyant, fashionable, humorous, etc, it was misconstrued and I was told I was just like any other user.

It sounded like you were asking a serious technical question, so people gave you a serious technical answer on how the mechanism works (zero feelings involved). (If one isn't looking for a serious answer, one can make it more clear that they're being facetious - we aren't mind readers)
QUOTE(Sesshomaru Moon @ Dec 2 2017, 00:44) *
But then you have the people who are going to run the Free Shop acting like they're above everyone else with their dictatorship and they're given control of a shared account.
The difference is that this post is quite clearly in jest.

(if you wished to help out I'm sure you could apply to be a Freeshop volunteer too - it's more a responsibility they're volunteering to do, to help the community, rather than a privilege)
QUOTE(Sesshomaru Moon @ Dec 2 2017, 00:44) *
Why are the noobs given such special treatment in HV, the members who have been here the longest never had any free stuff when we first started out and it was much more difficult back then.
I can't speak for the earlier days, but I would think part of it has to do with the game having a significantly lower population back then, in addition to the fact that the way E-H wealth is structured, it gets to be very top-heavy over time. Back when everyone was a noob (or at least not that wealthy), it was probably hard to find anyone with the freedom to be able to give stuff away. But nowadays, or at least in the past few years, there've been lots more people who've leveled up to 400+, have millions of credits saved, and don't particularly need absolutely everything that comes their way (and are thus both able and sometimes willing to give stuff away). That's just my guess.

The above is me replying seriously, assuming that you're looking for a serious answer. If you're not, then just ignore this post.

worry not, nobody's perfect :3

but well, seems i was misunderstood as well. i'll be a bit clearer this time.

because we higherups (or better, the higherups who remember where they started) know that starting a game may be difficult. and it's not much more difficult or way less difficulty, it's difficult in a different way.

you're not a standard user? disputable, but well...
you're one of the longest-running members around here? true. so start behaving like the higherup you are.

uhu. actually, they don't have any particular power but they still have to do a load of work. and yep, i don't remember having seen sesshy's name among those who wanted to apply...

my guess is that the community later became more user-friendly on average. being it because the global wealth increased with years, being it because the userbase is actually more inclined to gift/loan/help in general, don't know. but still, there's a certain amount of solidarity. nothing particular new, since sesshomarum, too, knows about this quite well...

It is also a trend I've seen in pretty much every game ever.

If you start a game, everything is new to you. Everything is interesting, and you're learning how things work.

There is a learning curve. For some, this may take awhile. Others, it may not. Regardless, at some point, all players either pass it or quit.

From there, you have only artificial barriers that delay you from catching up to the old-guard. Some arbitrary amount of grinding. Some games make this part painless and swift, other games enforce a lot of grinding. Various players have different opinions about that.

One thing that holds mostly true to mostly every game though, is that there is more fun to be had and more player retention if you can play with the other players of the game. Be it fair/balanced PVP, cooperative PVE, competing for high scores, etc.. It the barrier to get to this level playing field is too steep, then players simply lose interest. Because being told, "no you have to grind X hours/days/years before you're allowed to join the real game" is bullshit.

When a game is new, especially if it is the first game made by a particular developer, they get it wrong. The learning curve is steeper, the grind more tedious. The original newbies have no one ahead of them to show the most efficient paths. So it is always harder for the first pack. And some of those old-guard wear that accomplishment like a badge, and are resentful at seeing new-guard players joining them at the end-game table with an easier time than they had.

This resentment is always toxic, and simply the wrong attitude to have, ever.

Reducing the barrier to new players getting to that top/end playing field inevitably happens for all games that last several years. Because as new content is added, new and higher level caps, better gear, and so on, the old guard breezes through and reaches whatever the new end-game is more rapidly than the newer players. Then, another brand new newbie joins the game. Now, in order to get to the end-game playground, they have to go through several years worth of content.

Newer players will have an easier time. It is poor game design and poor comminity values to force otherwise.

So if you happen to be an old guard player, just be proud of your own accomplishments. No one else is going to. Instead, welcome the new blood because without it, your game will literally end.

Sesshomaru Moon as we all know him: flamboyant, fashionable, stylish, humorous, well-spoken, a connoisseur of male beauty, an excellent banner maker (retired), a tad direct at times, but certainly not plain and ordinary!

Okay, that introduction of the FS-management was Decon-style. I like that - funny, over the top, you know... perhaps you could even call it flamboyant? (you and him could get along fine in real life, I'm sure). At the same time, I am absolutely certain that newbies get helped in FS without abuse. Which is nice.

I understand that everybody like free stuff. Free sex & money! However, this game and forum has certain rules. Simple: FS can't give stuff to high-level players.

Jeez Sesshomaru, it's just a game! Don't take it too seriously.

I'm pretty sure you were here back when I was a newb who was standing out mostly by his difficulties in understanding the game mechanics, playstyles, acronyms, idioms, his stubbornness in denying any kind of technical help and by being a laughstock for playing Power 2H at Normal difficulty even at Lvl250. I haven't even used FreeSHop either, save for maybe 1 or 2 equips at most. I really learned the game the hard way and earned everything I own now. So, if anything, I'm actually well placed to know what deserving everything you get is.

I have worked very, very hard to build what I have at my disposal right now and today I suffer the strike back effect of my reputation that reached a level I would have never expected. So I certainly don't need FreeSHop to have my place here nor to fulfill any personal need. I volunteered because I haven't forgotten where I come from and because I know very well what a new player really needs. So for my part, operating FreeSHop isn't a privilege at all, but rather a mission that is bestowed to me and that will bring me nothing besides being paid with newbies "thanks" (or absence of).

I'm here to have a good time, have fun, share lolz and to be that one guy who never does anything like others. If I caption pictures to express my thoughts, it's because I want these forums to remain in a good atmosphere that is unfortunately threatened on a regular basis. As for my last one, it basically means that I intend to handle things my way and that I'd like to remind everyone who will walk through FreeSHop that because I'm volunteering to run it, gain nothing out of it and because the service is free, being thankful polite and respectful is the least I'm expecting from them.

See, I can be very serious when I want to, but I don't like doing so.
And yeah, you probably have way more things in common with me than what you might think.

DJ stands for Doujinshi (so I've learned recently (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) - someone asked my this in the Live Chat yesterday. I thought that the D was for Dude, and the J was a typo from making the account, but this guy explained what it should stand for)

Why this price drop? I may be a well known HV player. I may be a person that makes jokes, preferably about self. I may be known to not get angry easy. I may even be annoying at times. But patient, I am not.

Do you mean you want it fixed price? Because pay-as-you-go services, there are plenty on the WTS.

And it can take a while too. I did my staff, took my 2 weeks and I play a lot.

Maybe, I have 7m budget. Want to try my luck.

It`ll be great to have limited budget IW Service (7m for that) (9c/pxp) If you do It fast enough(im in hurry) you`ll have some bonus payment.

Current WTS offers are not suitable for my case.

upd: DJNoni going to do this (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

High level players should be ashamed of getting stuff from a freeshop. Much as I like getting my hands on good shit, freeshops are for newbs. I'd rather be able to donate to such a thing than take from it. But that's me.
